Friday 13th Caught Up With Us

After commenting several times about not being superstitious about Friday 13th, I have to wonder if it didn't just come a day late for us. We've been having a few problems with our new car. To cut a long story short, it now has no brake lights so we can't drive it.
We had to take the car trailer out to the church where a concert is being held tonight so, because we couldn't take the car, we decided to take the bus and stay the night. We don't like driving the bus in the dark. We needed to be at the church when it got dark to check out the lights we were going to put up. We were taking a generator too.
So we used the car to move the car trailer to a better position for hooking up the bus. Taking the trailer off it rolled forward and bumped a tiny dent in the back fender. That's No. 1. Then the bus had a flat battery so we put it on charge for an hour. When Vin went to start it, he'd accidently knocked the switch and it hadn't been charging at all. After much to-ing and fro-ing we tried to start the bus with the car. No go. So we waited another hour and off we went.
On arrival at the church we couldn't get the gas fridge to light up even after backing and forthing getting it as level as possible. Guess what? Both gas bottles were empty which meant there'd be no dinner as well. We started the generator and had it charging the bus battery just in case it decided not to start next morning.
After several hours running cords hither and thither and hooking up lights here, there and everywhere not to mention attaching a seven-metre light-pole to a tree, we had finished. Usually the light-pole slides down into the ground a metre but here we had to use what was available. So we had drinks and nibblies sitting outside, Vin had a banana sandwich for his dinner but I was pretty much over concerts by then and just went to bed!
All is well this morning. Kookaburras laughed us awake, the sun was shining, we did a few last minute things, locked up the church, the bus agreed to start and we were on our home by 7am. Roll on concert number 26!

I only knew about the 13th because of myLot. The owner of the church is responsible for hiring two toilets. We're debating if they'll come equipped with t/paper but I have two rolls in case. We're just about get some extra fuel for the generator. It would be last straw if that ran out of fuel and stopped.

The day wasn't all bad luck. You had moments that were good too. Sometimes the bad clouds over the good. You have to look a little harder for the good.

I'm glad everything worked out for you in the end! I would have been worried if your problems continued the next morning when the kookaburras woke you up!

@JudyEv Hahaha, I would have been saying the same thing, but I wouldn't have been joking! Maybe fire off a couple of warning shots or something, see if those kookaburras would get the message!

@JudyEv It's two owls! Mr. & Mrs. Owl. And interestingly, as soon as all these dangerous storms passed through tonight, the first thing I heard when it got all calm and quiet was Mr. & Mrs. Owl talking to each other! I think they were saying that it was safe to come out and that all the bad weather was gone!

@moffittjc They are harbingers of good news! You couldn't shoot them now. But maybe Mrs Owl was saying to Mr Owl 'too wet to woo'.

Aww sounds like a difficult night! I think I may have cried if I were in your shoes. Your saying your husband ate a banana sandwich reminded me of my dinner the other night that was a peanut butter sandwich with slices of banana in the middle. It was pretty good. It was the first time I have ever eaten that.

@allen0187 The concert went really well. Our friends towed out the car trailer to help us pack up and we'd forgotten the key to the church! I think we're getting too old for all this.

@Jessicalynnt After we had to make a second trip home because we forgot the key to the church and nearly burning out a bearing on the car trailer through leaving the brake on, yes, I think it has finally ended.

@JudyEv "The bus agreed to start" good one. Now I am a little thoughtful. The last two days,I have been commenting how I did not believe in the superstition of Friday 13.
