I Get To Take a Shower This Morning!!!

Now this might seem like a bizarre thing to be announcing, but since my Dermatologist visit, I have been able to get the incision wet. Today I can. At least he said I could. I saw the incision for the first time last night and it is ghastly! And it couldn't be in a more horrible place on the body. It's about 3 inches below my collar bone which is going to be sending me looking for a new bathing suit this year. The cause was a cyst that began to grow about 5 years ago. I decided this year that I just didn't want to look at it any longer. It had grown to about an inch in diameter which doesn't sound all that big, but when it is in a spot where you really don't want it to be... it's horrible! The bad thing about it is that it is genetic. My son has already had one removed about ten years ago. Anyway, I get to take a shower this morning and I'm hoping that when I get out of the shower... it doesn't quite look as bad as it did last night. Eight stitches is going to make for a long scar. :(

So sorry about that, they have scar cream you can use to reduce the red look.

Don't fret about the scar! I have a few on my body that will never go away. I call them character marks. Big hugs to you!

Yes, eight stitches seems to be quite a few to me. Well, it had to be done and I am happy to hear that you can now take a shower and get those stitches wet!!!

@Hate2Iron I had what I call an old-fashioned C-section. Vertical 7-inch scar, not the nice little ones that are horizontal. They had to get my 9-pounder of a baby out of there quickly, so there ya go. No bikini for me back in the day.

@Corbin5 That's what I had too. My reason... they gave me Demerol and my labor pains went away putting baby in stress. No horizontal scar for me either. Now lol... I'm going to have to wear a 20s style bathing suit to the beach that covers everything. I shall be turning heads that is for sure lol!

There are so many things you can dress that with to shrink the scar. My sister had that removed in the summer. Her first time under the knife.

Will definitely be on the lookout. Here's hoping that it looks better than it did when I first came home. ;)

@Hate2Iron Yes it will my daughter was sliced across the face. Oh you can't imagine what it looked like. Keloid and all. It's been going down after using lots of stuff.

I thought that nowadays stitches don't leave a scar? I had an op on my hand a couple of years ago involving quite a few stitches, and I don't have any scarring.

Scars are just part of our history. It means you have had more adventures in life than some.

It is amazing what we are grateful for when we don't have it anymore. I know without a doubt I would miss showers if I had to go more than a day without one. I am kind of addicted to a daily shower.
