I Don't Want a Slideshow, Just the Story

This is probably one of the recent trends or phenomena that really irritates me. It seems like every time that I will want to read a news story online, I click on it and I either get a video or a slide show. They are always slower to load, cause everything to freeze or just a general pain, especially when all I want to do is just read a little text and get the story. Maybe I am just going to the wrong site, but this is getting more and more frustrating as the days go by.
