St. Louis Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak is considering granting his star catcher Yadier Molina, 34, with a contract extension since his current contract has a club option for $15 million or if the Cardinals decides not renew his contract buy out his contract for $2 million dollars. Molina has played for the St. Louis Cardinals since the 2004 Major League Baseball season which is very rare for a Major League Baseball player to play his entire career with the only team he has been employed with since the beginning of his career. It remains to be seen if Molina will get a contract extension before the end of the 2017 Major League Baseball season or will he either retire at the end of the current baseball season or perhaps play for another team in 2018.

Molina is finally beginning to slip as he is now 34. The Cards are very cost conscious.
