Current New England Patriots offensive coordinator (OC) Josh McDaniels has bowed out of the race to be the next San Francisco 49ers head coaching positon due to "personal" reasons. Some Patriots fans feel that McDaniels is waiting for head coach Bill Belichick to retire so he can succeed him as the next head coach of the Patriots according to the twitter page of Jason La Canfora. Another reason McDaniels bowed out of the head coaching position of the 49ers is due to the fact that he does not want to be a distraction to the Patriots players who are getting ready to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday in Foxborough Massachusetts for a berth to represent the American Football Conference in Super Bowl 51. Former Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable and current Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan are the likely candidates to be the next 49ers head coach.

Walking into the 49ers camp is not very appealing.

Cable wasn't a bad coach when he was with the Raiders. I wish him well.

I agree with you that Tom Cable was a good question with the Oakland Raiders. I guess the 49ers are probably the next coach if Shanahan is not hired.

The last thing the Patriots players need to be asked by the media is if how will they feel if their assistant coach is leaving the team before the championship game versus the Pittsburgh Steelers.
