Made $60 bucks over the weekend selling my junk, YAY!

United States
January 17, 2017 3:19pm CST
My boyfriend has been fed up with my 'junk' (stuff I don't use or want and leave all over the place) so Friday, I posted a bunch of stuff on Mercari and Poshmark for sale. After the % the site takes, I was able to make $60 bucks! I sold: - New in box oil diffuser - New in box iPhone 6+ phone case/wallet - New in box iPhone 6+ juice pack - New with tags Abercrombie and Fitch bathing suit top - Pair of new, never installed Matte License Plates Since yesterday was Martin Luther King (holiday), the post office wasn't open - so I will be shipping everything out today! Do you sell online anywhere?

That's a lot of stuff! I am sure the money will come in handy. Did you ever get your windshield patched up by chance? Oh, and I havent' sold anything online since Listia.

I think I have tried Listia or was it something that said Garage Sale in it or something. I did not get the windshield patch yet, have to still get the bumper estimated as I was rear ended last month - will get a quote for both sometime this week. :) Yes, the money will be handy as they're items I don't need/want anyway ! :)

@ScribbledAdNauseum OH I see! I don't know if it still exists =) I have been doing alright on Poshmark & Mercari though they take %. Poshmark takes 20% and Mercari takes 10%. I have heard lots of good things about eBay and its a bigger audience so I might try it out.

@infatuatedbby I don't know that Listia even exists anymore. I am pretty sure it was Listia but it was something Sharon here on mylot used a lot as well. She used to make capri sun purses with her daughter and sell them on there for the points. I sold a wallet for points once, and bought an amazon gift card I think with it. I may check out some of these selling apps ones of these days, to see if it's worth my while.

That's pretty awesome, I haven't heard of those 2 sites. I do sell online, ebay and etsy. I do it for fun, the money is nice but yup I do it for something to do.

@fishtiger58 Oh yeah? What about PayPal doesn't PayPal take a percentage?

They're US based - and you have to use an App on iOS or Android. Mercari takes 10% and Poshmark takes 20%. At Mercari you can sell basically anything just not like fake stuff... whereas Poshmark is more strict mens / womens / kids - clothes, accessories, shoes and big no on electronics. I have never sold on eBay.

It was wiser on your part that you disposed of your junk online. We have some sites where we could sell things online, however, I have not tried ever selling any junk item online.

What's an iPhone 6+ juice pack? A juicer? Was it a gift from iPhone 6+? I'm about to list some new in box phone cases for iPhone 5 and Samsung S6... They're the snap back hard case kind...

@sishy7 Hehe. Yes, I think your sons will know my lingo heheh. Just my luck! Not always do I get lucky. Like today, I sold an item and got $2.30 after 10% (it's a mouth piece thing new in packaging) but I wont drop it off until I have to go to the post office =) I have a lot more things to post (kid clothes from my niece/nephew) but been lazy!

@infatuatedbby Oohhh... I could've asked my sons the iPhone users - I'm sure they'd know the lingo and laugh at my literal take... Yes, I list stuff on eBay... But I never do as well as you on there... I put them on a 7-day auction and I'd be lucky if anyone bid at all by the end of it. And even when I make a sell, it's never like the kind of profit you make - you made over $10/item over the weekend after just posting them on the Friday before...

I have several items that I've been meaning to get rid of but I keep saying tomorrow I will do it. They are just occupying space and are of no use. I think I can get about 200€ by selling them.

I don't really have anything worth selling. I don't spend much unless it's on clothes and shoes, and I tend to buy them second hand anyway to save money.

Sometimes it takes a while and sometimes its the photo too! Sometimes it depends where you take it or maybe its my superstition. Sometimes if the item doesn't sell I'll retake a photo somewhere else in the house.
