I just photo the coconut in our backyard this morning. The coconut is dwarf but got already fruits. It's a kind of hybrid that it will take only three years to grow and will bear fruits.
But comparing to other dwarf coconut which have lots of fruits, mine got a single fruit only. It just starting to have fruits. Someday it will grow more.
You don't need to climb the tree because even kids will have no problem getting one.

I remember the frustration of my grandpa when he planted coconut trees on his backyard and the tree ended up being very tall. Is this a special cultivar or is there a way to make coconut trees short?

its a variety of coconut, no special cultivation, you plant it and wait for three years and the fruit will appear

We have two of those. In the first few years it was ok to pluck them but now we need a climber to do that.

@ilocosboy What leaves are you talking about? If you want to produce a plant from that coconut then you should let it dry on the tree and let it fall. Then soak it in water when you will see a shoot coming out. You can then make a hole 3x3 and plant it.

I wanted to plant more of these so I let that fruit to get ripe hard and plant it when the leaves come out.

I look at this and all I see is a pokemon haha is there a reason why these trees grow short? Is it because of climate or perhaps lack of sun?
