Major Disappointment

United States
January 17, 2017 7:26pm CST
Sometimes it makes you wonder what makes a person tick. Why does an adult make decisions to do something that others would never think to do? This is especially true if the entire scheme is illegal and if caught may lead to a criminal record and jail time. I really don't know how much more heartbreak I can receive in my life. Of course there are worse things that a mother can hear, but wow. I am stressed to the max and this really pushes me a little further to the edge. Sorry for the rant. I seriously need to find a way to destress.

@moffittjc they are both in their 30's and I thought that they were doing well. Just goes to show that you never know when the other shoe will drop.

That's okay, rant away if you need to. The only thing that gets me through the tough mothering times is prayer. We raise them the best we can to be good citizens and have good common sense but ultimately they must make their own decisions. They are all grown now and on their own, and I can't be there and help them like when they were at home but I know God is with them all the time looking out for them.

@clrumfelt sadly enough, they went through a horrible time about 8 years ago. One would have thought they would stay on the right side of the law. Until today, I thought that I didn't have to worry about things like that. The crime wasn't as severe are what happened years ago, but wow. When will they ever learn?

@clrumfelt I so hope so. They have children that look up to them. One day that may not be the case if they continue on this path.

@ElusiveButterfly I'll say a prayer for them too. Hopefully they will get tired of eating mud this time and not fall on their faces again.

It seems I keep giving them the same advice over and over again. Wish they would finally take to heart what I have tried to get through to them.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. Soon there will be legal issues to deal with. I am dumbfounded that this has happened. I sit here shaking my head still.

Dianne, thank you for your kindness. Just knowing that there are people like you out there makes me smile. I am hoping that this doesn't bring them a lengthy time in jail, but I doubt that will be the case. Even a month is too long.

@DianneN I am only getting bits and pieces of what happened. Nobody is giving me the full story. They don't want to get their siblings angry with them. Holy Cheetos, I am not going to take them over my knee and spank them.

It certainly helps to be able to write and get it off my chest. I am really having a difficult time with this. Woke a couple of times and immediately thought about what happened. I did go back to sleep, but I fear this is going to be the norm for me for a while.

I have this fear of my son disappointing me with wrong decisions when he reach the age of adulthood. I hope that he won't. I believe I have raised him well but the parents can do only so much sometimes.

We raise them to do make good sound choices and when they fail to do so, we take it to heart.

@ElusiveButterfly That's why we get disappointed, because we believed we raised them that way.

Some times we just have to let go, even if we don't want to or can't. You did what you could now it's up to them to get it right. Just remember something that I always told my kids, the mad goes away but the love never does.

I am so sorry you are going through this with your adult children. As a mom we only want what is best for our children and we trust them to make good decisions. When they don't it causes worry and stress. I pray everything works out and that you get the full story soon. You deserve to know.

When it is something close to home it is harder to believe that someone we know that much could do something unimaginable. If we heard the same things on the news it would pass by, i mean we would react but not with so much emotion as if it was one of our own.

Sometimes, it takes actually being caught to make the necessary change. Once our children or grandchildren are adults, we no longer have control over them and it is heartbreaking, believe me I know, to see them do stupid things. I am sending a big hug.
