Another Successful Concert Done and Dusted

It was hard to get photos of the concert that we helped organise recently in an old decommissioned Western Australian country church. Everyone came out for a barbecue at 6pm and the concert got underway at 7.30pm. The duo call themselves Beautifully Mad and are very talented. They gave us a wonderful night's entertainment. The lady, Kris, once had a theatre company and has done a lot of acting; Tony has won an Aria for song-writing and both are talented artists who sell their paintings at prices in the thousands.
In the audience was the grandson of the man who had donated a small portion of his farmland for the church along with a couple who had been married there. We thought the wedding had been years before but it was a second marriage for both and only took place about ten years ago. The church itself was built in 1909.
The church held about 68 quite comfortably. The generator coped with both supplying lights and heating water for coffee without over-reaching itself and the weather was balmy and very pleasant. All in all it was a most successful evening.

How were the acoustics? Churches always have good acoustics.

It was such a cozy 'do" I see. Not surprising therefore that it was a memorable event.

Thank you for sharing the pictures and the church looked pretty casual but a nice place.

It is no longer a church but it is a lovely place for a small concert like this.

You did a good deed! I think those audience have less opportunity to watch the popular singers' live concerts.

@JudyEv I guess most of the music in the concerts are folk songs or old songs .

@changjiangzhibin89 Many of the groups write their own songs but might sing a few covers as well. I wouldn't call them folk songs or old songs.

@Jessicalynnt There was room for 10 or 12 up where the altar would have been. Then a few rows of ten and we were there.

I guess it depends on what you like. One thing people often remark on is how, being so close, they can easily see the interaction between the players and the speed of their fingers or whatever as they play. When we had a jazz concert, some said they didn't like jazz much but came to support the Music Shack. Once they saw it close up they were impressed with the way players handled their instruments and the non-verbal communication. For most, this has to be better than sitting up in the heavens in a massive theatre and watching the players on a screen.

Not enough attending services I'd say - and there are less and less ministers around. Built in 1909 it was getting to the stage where it needed some serious money spent on it too and most parishes are pretty strapped for cash. The mortar in the bricks is breaking away. Someone has tried to replace some with cement but the new owner is going to have the brickwork repaired properly with new mortar, etc.

@Happy2BeMe I'm sure they will. The owner is very proud and quite protective of it.

That sounds SO cold. I heard a riddle today which you might appreciate. How many Germans does it take to change a light bulb? One because Germans are very efficient and they don't have a sense of humour. I know the last bit isn't really true.
