Diary Tuesday 17th January 2017 A day for reserving my money as much as possible and doing a basic food hunting shopping trip. I then spent a few hours in the main public library here in Preston, and stayed online for most of the evening. Diary Wednesday 18th January 2017 A job club day today and I sent off for about 25 different jobs, though with little likelihood of replies in most cases. On my return to the flat I got a nice surprise when a book I have a story in, mislaid when borrowed by a neighbour, was finally returned to me four months on as she found it again today while tidying up her flat. I sent her a message of thanks. Arthur Chappell

Libraries are wonderful, free sanctuaries. They need protecting.

@arthurchappell There is one in a village a few miles from me which has been saved by being entirely run by volunteers. The locals think it's wonderful.

You reminded me that I haven't been to a library in a long time. Living in the suburbs due to snow it is difficult to get to our closest library because we go on foot and the snow is a hindrance. So perhaps I'll go once the spring comes.

I love libraries - rarely pass one without going in @RasmaSandra @RasmaSandra

Even if it's only filling a quota, good luck with the applications. I know how that goes. I used to fill them out every day for weeks one end.

I am missing a couple of books that I've lent to someone. I'm hoping they'll find their way back one day as I don't know who I lent them to.
