New Year, New Recipes

Another New Year's resolution I sort of made was to make more new recipes. All too often I find that I either get busy and end up going though a fast food drive through, or resorting to my old stand-by recipes. Of course it helps that I have a wide variety of recipes that I like to fall back on, ones that I can make without even thinking about it and know turn out well. However my mom and myself like to clip and save recipes and we each have a great number of them to start trying to use. In the past my excuse was that my new recipes were messy, however this winter I have taken it on myself to organize. During the organization process I threw out recipes that either looked like they took too many ingredients, used ingredients that are hard to find here, required too much prep work that I couldn't see myself doing, or anything similar to that. I pitched all the ones that I didn't think I would ever actually be interested in making. Then I glued them to pages in sections - the usual, snacks, soups and salads, main dishes, sides dishes, desserts and of course, a junk drawer page. I think I will make it my goal to make at least 24 new recipes this year. That's 2 a month and to me it does seem doable. So far I'm on target for January. One is an onion soup recipe that turned out easy and good and one is a recipe I made up for lasagna - all cheese. Of course I would be pleased to get in a few more recipes....
Do you save recipes?

No, I'm basically good at making scrambled eggs, pancakes, and burgers. My girlfriend is a chef and doesn't use them.

@FayeHazel - Bar burgers are second only to bowling alley burgers.

I envy your burger skills. I love a good burger but I am terrible at making them. What is the secret? I like a good "bar" burger, but I think that it's maybe the grade of beef, - fatty and unhealthy but ever so tasty

@FayeHazel cookbooks are very useful especially to those who are just learning to cook.

Good for you for organizing them. It took me, like, 2 afternoons to finally get mine all sorted.

@FayeHazel Maybe I should do this. I'm supposed to cook once a week when Vince goes to golf. Even that seems like a lot!

Thanks! I've met my quota for this month, though getting an extra 1 in would be good too....

I am a saver of recipes. When I see something that looks interesting, I bookmark it if I find it on the internet, or print it off.
Now I need to actually try some of them. I have a group on Facebook that is dedicated to tested recipes and home remedies and I have posted a few recipes that I still have to try, and more that I have tried and enjoyed.
