The Lost is Found

I haven't mentioned this before because I thought it might jinx my chances of finding it again. I'm talking about a little point-and-shoot camera. We have two of these (long story - not interesting) and of course it was the better one that I mislaid. I'm not careless when it comes to cameras and I couldn't understand how I could have put it down somewhere but later couldn't locate it. Yesterday I asked Vince to stop near our boundary so I could take a photo of the sheep – the photo used in my last post. I had taken a camera with us and it was down the side of the car-seat but in actual fact, it was the 'lost' camera. I am so relieved and feel vindicated that I wasn't just careless with it. The photo is of a sundew which I've put up before but thought was worth another 'exposure' in case some haven't seen it.

Thank you. I would love an evening dress made from fabric like this.

I've had things slide into the couch. I once lost a book that way. It was driving me crazy...one minute I had it....the next it was gone.

It does drive you crazy. I was always losing crochet hooks into couches.

That's a rare photo that you have uploaded. Was that your effort or your husband's? Misplacing things is second nature to me. (lol)

Unfortunately that is one of Vince's - only joking - I'd love it to be mine, that's all.

@JudyEv It would make a lovely fabric. I can imagine a lady's sweater with that look would be quite becoming.

Wouldn't these colours and that sparkle make a lovely fabric?

I love the photo and I too have been known to misplace my camera. It drives me crazy but I always find it in a really silly place.

I couldn't quite pinpoint where I'd left it but I knew I hadn't just dropped it somewhere.

how pretty! if a dress were made with that design, you wouldn't need accessories. insectivorous is a first for me. and based on your description, it reminds me of venus fly traps.

@JudyEv if you touch them, what it's like - moist, sticky, itchy, smelly?

They are similar sorts of plants. There are at least 194 species of sundew but the Venus flytrap is a different genus. Wouldn't an evening dress in those colours and with that sparkle be beautiful?

@hereandthere This photo is blown up quite a bit so it's quite hard to even see the stickiness. They feel a little sticky but that's all.

It's embarrassing, isn't it? And if you go and buy another, the first one turns up almost immediately.

@JudyEv - Ms Judy - That sundew photo by Vince surely is a great photo. Also, I lost a nice camera some time back, but that camera is surely lost to me forever. I have two others - real antiques in the world of digital cameras, but they seem to work OK. -Gus-

@JudyEv - Ms Judy -The youngest of our grandsons has developed an interest in film photography, so I gave him several of my old cameras and some sealed cannisters of 35mm color film. One of the old cameras was a later model Polaroid film type. I gave it to him after learning the you can stil obtain Polaroid type film these days. -Gus-

@Ceerios I guess there are some who like using film - probably just for the challenge.

I have my Dad's two cameras but they are from the film era. Vince has several too. We might put them in the car boot sale in ten days time. I'm glad you like the photo. I think it is just gorgeous.

I don't know what a 'sundew' is, but it's extremely pretty. It sort of looks like a flower with gems all over it. Is that droplets of water or something made with beads?

@JudyEv It's quite pretty, but sounds icky. We have minature plant traps similar to the type used on either the Adams Family or the Munsters. It's not as pretty as this though.

The droplets are sticky. It's an insectivorous plant. Flies, etc, get stuck in the goo and the tiny filaments fold over the fly and it is digested by the plant.

@MarshaMusselman Apparently there are dozens of various types of insectivorous plants throughout the world.

Sundews are insectivorous plants. Little insects get caught in the tiny bits of sticky stuff and the plant then devours them to gain nourishment.

Isn't that a plant that 'eats' insects?

Yes it is. The insects get caught in the sticky drops of wax, the tiny hairs curve over the insect and enzymes or whatever then digest the prey.
