Amazing! We have news flashes everywhere and the reporter on television broke down while she was informing that SIX PEOPLE have just been found ALIVE under the debris and mountains of snow that devastated the mountain hotel here in Italy more than 36 hours ago Miracles still happen after all! Hopefully there will be updates and even more people will have survived too! I love good news! ***UPDATE*** The survivors saved are now TEN
Alpine rescue personnel early on Friday continued to dig for survivors under the snow and rubble at the Hotel Rigopiano in the Abruzzo town of Farindola, which was hit by a massive avalanche probably due to Wednesday's earthquakes in central Italy. © ANSA

I was watching an online video only a few minutes ago. I feel sick, my stomach aches, I am claustrophobic and I cannot even imagine what those poor people have been through during those two days. It's good that miracles exist, because Italy (as usually) has showed to the world how bad we are in preventing catastrophes.

@mysdianait YES, we were discussing this stupid new law with my husband yesterday evening. Renzi was really a very bad choice and the name he had in school (Il Bomba) because he was a big liar perfectly sticks to him.

@LadyDuck It does fit so well. Unfortunately I think he is not yet off the scene (he is probably behind the present governement too) and will soon be back with all of his old tricks. Sad that Italian people seem to have such short memories!

@mysdianait I also fear he is not yet off the scene. You are right, Italian people seem never to remember, they complain all the time, they do nothing.

They are working in extremely difficult conditions, especially as the now is now like concrete and there is so much of it. It seems that the survivors had enough air space underneath the snow. Whether they are fit or injured has not been reported yet but they are so lucky!

We read that the chef tried to raise the alarm and no-one would believe him. It took two hours before help arrived.

Yes there were big delays before any rescuers arrived on the scene. It was very difficult to reach the area and the first rescuers covered the last kilometres on foot with skis as vehicles could not get through until later after the roads had been cleared.

It is indeed! Absolutely amazing and no doubt later, when they are reunited with their loved ones and over the shock, they will tell us how they got through that long time under the snow.
