Lunch on the Rainbow River

We decided to go out for late lunch today. It was around 80 degrees and seemed like the perfect day to take advantage of the weather and dine outdoors. We drove to the next town and got a seat outdoors overlooking the river. Last year we were entertained by an osprey but no birds showed up this year. It just seems wrong to be eating outside in January lol

In some locations, like where I am, it seems wrong to be eating outside in January, but......you aren't here in Canada, so I would say enjoy!

@BelleStarr No, you should not feel guilty, you've earned this by working thru all of those years, and maintaining your health so that you can go now that you're retired. That's the name of the game!

I remember it was very common to eat outside in January when we lived on the French Riviera, not here in Switzerland.

That makes sense, it has to be warm enough to enjoy being outdoors

@BelleStarr We had wonderful warm and sunny days in the South of France in January. I have to say that I miss to be there in winter.

We ate by the water, too. It was only 81 here lol, but we had lots of birds to keep my brother's dog amused.

I think there were just too many people around, the restaurant was busy and as you can see in the photo, so was the river.

Do you have flies over there that spoil the experience of eating out?

No there were no bugs at all. I don't see a lot of flies around here, lots of other things that creep and crawl but not flies. lol

@BelleStarr That's good. When they are bad here it is difficult to eat outside.

It is, the umbrella protected us for the first part of the meal but by the end we were in complete sunshine which was a bit much for us northerners lol

Last year it was cold in Florida at this time of year and warm at home. This year it is warm both places. Today it was 67 degrees which I find perfect.

I was going to ask for a picture of your blue sky today, but this one from yesterday will do. Yes, it does seem a bit wrong to be enjoying the weather outside right now, but other than the gloominess, it's not as bad as normal up in the northern states either. Although, I wouldn't consider eating outside. It's not quite that nice.

I know it is unseasonably warm up in Connecticut and here too. It has been sunny just about every day since we arrived.
