Does Your Pet Sleep with a Baby?

Doodles sleeps with a stuffed mouse. It's his baby. Doodles won't sleep with any other stuffed mouse or toy. Mouse is always nearby. Sometimes I can see Mouse. Other times only Doodles knows where mouse is. Often, he scolds Mouse for reasons known only to Mouse and Doodles. In those instances, Mouse is moved only five inches. Other times, Mouse is dropped at my feet in another room or on another floor of the house. You can always find Mouse in or nearby Doodle's bed. Does your pet sleep with a baby?

Pets can keep us amused for hours while we try to work out why they do what they do.

They do some strange things that's for sure..but that behavior isn't so different from little people.

We got a teddy bear for Buttons when she was a kitten and she would snuggle with it. But now that she's grown up teddy just sits on the back of our couch as a memory. Ginger sniffs teddy every once in awhile. Glad Doddles has a baby to snuggle and play with.

@DianneN the native mutt that we have sleeps on a chair with a cushion. she has that privilege because she has no fur at all and our floor is cold now due to the cool climate at 18 degrees Celsius.

That is so cute. No, my dogs never slept with their toys, but then their only toy they liked were tennis balls. Usually those were outside. Though Rascal's tennis balls were always inside. He never ran after them outside - crazy dog.

Crazy Rascal! Ha ha! Most dogs don't seem to sleep with anything. Our English Springer Spaniel, Chester, loved tennis balls and took one along for his morning walk. However, when we opened a new can, we had to run outside and rub the ball in the dirt, before he would accept it. Crazy what our pets make US do!!! Lol!

@DianneN Yes he was, and such a loving dog. I miss him. I have his ashes and Pip's too. Both were abused. It took both of them a long time to accept that I wouldn't hurt them.

That is so friggin cute! Maybe it was made of satin and smooth. My son liked the ribbons on his stuffed doggie and the other son loved satin on blankets, my robe, and on his bunny. Too cute!

Preiti has no toys but I remember Bhagira one of our earlier pets insisted on having a bath mat ( ready for discarding) to cuddle up with.

Doodles is very cute! He must be very protective with his stuffed mouse. I don't have a pet, but my grandparents had dogs when I was growing up. I love dogs, they are so smart and loyal.

Not now but when Bella was about 2 years old, she was having a hard time every time she went into heat. The last time she did, she had a false pregnancy. She had a tiny ball that was her baby and she started nesting as if she was pregnant. Bella took that ball everywhere with her and at that time, she did sleep with it. She would not go to sleep without it. We did get her spayed after that and she soon forgot about her ball baby.

We gave up with the bed thing as our cat would never sleep in it. She much prefers to climb into a brown paper bag? Very odd cat I can tell you!

I think I am the "baby" my cat sleeps with. However, my mother once had a cat who had a stuffed chick she loved. She carried it everywhere with her, and when it started to fall apart..my mom stitched it up. When my parents would leave to go on a trip...the cat used to find the chick, carry it around..and meow pitifully.

Patches used to sleep with a stuffed pet mouse but now she does not seem to care any more. She does not even play any more. She is 15 years old.
