Do we need to go home for china new year festival

As china open and reform in 90s, the east coast city becoming so develped and so many factory and industry found, that demand somuch large of labour or worker,so most north or west city people have arrived to east for gob and better life, at before, every year as new years coming, almost of them take train or bus go home to reunion , but nowdays, i have more people have buy house in east or as stay here so long time, we do not want to go back their hometown in new year , Do you think it is necessary back hometown in new year

Yes, I think it is necessary back hometown because we should reunion with our families.
