labour laws in the developed countries are tougher and stringent than those in india and other developing coutries . they also demand longer hours of work . additional benefits like housing and medical facilities are also not given to workers . between 1980-1984 (when the bhopal tragedy happened ) the work crew for the methyl - isocyanate (MIC) plant was halved from 12-6 workers . moreovers, completely ignoring the safety of the workers , thie safety training period was reduced to 15 days from 6 months ! the post of night - shift workers for the MIC PLANT IN BHOPAL was abolished . all these point out to the callous and whimsical ways of the management to cut cost of production at the cost of safety of the workers

Its sad how workers are being exploited by "business entrepreneurs" just to earn so much profit for themselves. There is so much cruelty and selfishness in this world
