I read a lot here and I guess many (not all) of you do too. I have a reaction to most of what I read too I laugh at many things I wonder about some things Some things are beautiful I am annoyed by violations Shocked sometimes too ... and sometimes I find myself doing a facepalm . and we need a smiley for that! I can't direct you to what made me do it because soon it will be gone and it wasn't the discussion itself which caused me to do it but... the fact that there were already so many responses Do you respond on discussions that are Guideline violations... or have you forgetten them like those who responded there had done? or do you only read the title *facepalm*

I follow you for the facepalm emoticon, it is something really missing at myLot, at least for members using emoticons like you and me. I respond times to times to discussions violating guidelines, and if it is from a new member I point the guidelines. I only report spam and plagiarized discussions though.

Yes those of us who use them can definitely see that one is an absolute MUST! I point them out too when no-one else has got there before me and not only spam and plagarism. I don't talk to the spammers though as they rarely listen anyway

To be perfectly honest, unlike our president, I am not really a fan of them. I use them sparingly at best. First off, they are so small I really have a hard time telling what they are about except for the thumbs up guy!

@ramapo17 It's that action that you do (like the picture here) when you see or hear something that makes you think "naaahhh". I'm sure you have done probably without realising there was a name for it too

There are more than one emoji I'd love to see here. I'm pretty sure the "facepalm" one would be popular enough for a petition. Unfortunately petitions aren't allowed here.

I would never respond to a discussion that was a clear violation, but one that is debatable would be a different matter.

@paigea It is a perfectly understandable rule because otherwise some members would submit myriads of jokes as a easy option.

It was a joke and jokes are easy meat to leave a response on but they are also, or should be, an easy violation to spot too. Obviously not according to the numerous responses and likes already.

@mysdianait I love jokes, especially jokes I can use at school so I would love more threads about jokes. Until someone posted that it was against the rules, I completely forgot reading that baffling rule against jokes when I joined.

Yuki and I have often used the *facepalm* aside, and we have stated on several occasions that it should be added here. As to whether or not I would respond on a discussion in violation of the Guidelines, it depends upon what the discussion is about and who else is on playing at the time. There have been many times that several others and I have played on one of those types of discussions knowing that it would eventually be deleted.

You haven't mentioned me but I was the one who pointed out in a comment that jokes are a violation of the Guidelines. It's the last rule in the list. I may not make myself many friends here, but I always direct a member to the Guidelines when I see a violation.

I didn't mention you, though I know it was you who pointed out nicely that the post was a violation, because I wasn't sure whether you would have appreciated a mention for that or not. I do too, when I see them, regardless of whether it puts people off me or not. We are asked to help out and we should as, in any community online or off, we should help to take care of it. I was amazed at how many responses there already were on that post and from long time users too

That's the one indeed. I was surprised how many had responded there. As this is a discussion site,I can understand why we can't post jokes. There is nothing to discuss if the post is a joke, surely? The user is new and it must have been confusing to have seen so many respond there.

@paigea I agree that recipes can be discussed and indeed there are many that are discussions. When the main piost is ONLY a recipe or ONLY a joke, then it is a violation.

@mysdianait I can discuss jokes and recipes far better than I can discuss many other things. So, while I will obey the rule now that I've been reminded, I will remain baffled by these two rules.

I have read through several of your responders here and so know it was a joke. I think a lot of the issue is that many forums, paid or otherwise, have joke categories. The joke categories (for the paying sites) tend to pay out much less, but are still allowed. Atleast that's my theory. *let me clarify in saying that I believe that is why we get so many posts with just jokes around here*

@ScribbledAdNauseum Yes the discussin was a joke but I would have used the facepalm, not for the discussion itself but for all of the users who had 'liked' the post. Unbelievable that so many seem not to know (or maybe care) about the rules here *facepalm*.

@mysdianait You said "you couldn't direct us to the discussion itself which made you do it." Then down below, as I was skiming, you let others know that hte violating post was someone's posted joke? Or did I miss a wire somewhere?
