I finally finished the afghan today that is for the 82 year old man that I take care of. He fell in love with it the first time that he seen it. So I decided that I would give it to him for Christmas. I had to finish my granddaughter's afghan first so his wasn't finished in time for Christmas.
Christmas evening I came to work and handed him a small package and said this was just a little sweetener for him. That is a joke between us. I got him some pudding that he likes. Then I told him that he would have to wait for his real Christmas present. I brought the afghan in that he liked so much, held it up and told him that when I got it finished it was his Christmas present.
Again today I brought the afghan to work with me. About 4:00 p.m. he woke up from his nap and I had the afghan on his bed. I told him that I was never taking that afghan home again. He looked over at his bed and got the biggest smile on his face.
He thanked me and told me how much he liked it. He is now in bed curled up under HIS afghan. He is happy and so am I.

@Happy2BeMe I;m trying to find them. Since I moved things are a real mess. Then I started working again and haven't had time to look for them.

@velvet53 thanks. Being a grandma is the best. I was going to ask you if you had a picture. I would love to see it when you can find the right jump drive.

Oh this brought a huge smile to my face. I often give gifts that I have made to my clients. However, I have to tell them that the faeries left it on their porch for them. We are not supposed to give or accept gifts from our clients.
However, I am a giving person. I get much joy from bringing a smile to someone's face. It is the greatest gift I can receive.

@velvet53 nobody needs to know what I do in my personal life. If they don't like it they can fire me. I am close enough to retirement age and would like a little time off!

@ElusiveButterfly Good for you. I have never understood why gifts can't be given at certain places.

sounds like you are the kind of care giver i was. problem is you get so attached to them and then their family might decide they want someone else even when they are attached to you also. if he has money, they will start being concerned about that. i just hope that is not the case with you. it happened to me. they are like family to you after a bit.

@velvet53 they probably did but i never know. i had to sign papers to not contact any of them in order to get my severence pay. it seems the only reason was he had become too attached to me. that was all i was told. don't even know what they told him

@bunnybon7 That is a long time. It was nice of the family to want you to stay but I am sorry that the daughter was that way. I bet they are regretting letting you go.

@velvet53 And I presume since it is made of yarn it can make one warm when using it. Thus, it is only better for a cold climate, not for a hot weather like here in the Philippines.
Here in the Philippines, my hubby doesn't use a blanket when sleeping during summer. But me, hot or cold, i must have a blanket, though during summer only those very thin blanket.

That was so nice that you did that for him! I'm sure he will get lots of use out of that afghan, and always be reminded of the sweet thing you did for him! Sometimes it's the small things that make us the happiest!

Thanks @moffittjc We have it on his bed and when someone comes by he tells them about it. I like small things myself and definitely like to give if I can.
