Forgot - Me Not!

I havent done a Suddendath Poetry in ages, and while reading @Jenca post from last week I decided to give it a go. Today’s words are: forgot, late, lagging, remiss, tardy. I was not here I forgot to tell, I might be missing for a spell. Tardy I'm not but lagging for sure, remiss MyLot I seek a cure! Late arrival, that is me! I'm here right now on bend'ed knee! This is my sorry poem, looking for redemption from all those writers whom I have not read in a while! Happy Day everyone - glad to be back for a while. My photo is a stunning postcard that was given to me by @MALUSE and depicts the Grand Eltz Castle "(German: Burg Eltz) which is a medieval castle nestled in the hills above the Moselle River between Koblenz and Trier, Germany. It is still owned by a branch of the same family (the Eltz family) that lived there in the 12th century, 33 generations ago." Posted in 1954 - the Black and White Postcard and stamp are lovely. I have so many to show you!

Well done. I tackled this one too. It's my New Year Resolution! And isn't that the most beautiful castle? Imagine the antiques in there.

Thanks for the mention. Can you imagine living at the top and having no lift? :-(

While googling its History I see that it featured on a bank note as well - Imagine that: "Eltz Castle on the reverse side of the 500 Deutsche Mark note (1965–1990s)"

@Inlemay Yes, that's right. I must admit, though, that I don't see it very often. I don't have 500 Euro in my wallet when I go shopping! Btw, thanks for making me stinking rich with your many comments! :-)

That is a magnificent example of a medieval castle. It is hardly surprising that you love the postcard. Such scenes suit black and white photography.

@Inlemay Some older postcards may show scenes that no longer exist.

It is a beautiful castle indeed. I wonder how many years did it take to construct that castle.

It seems to have taken some time to get it finished: Wikipedia says Platteltz, a Romanesque keep, is the oldest part of the castle, having begun in the 9th century as a simple manor with an earthen palisade. By 1157 the fortress was an important part of the empire under Frederick Barbarossa, standing astride the trade route from the Moselle Valley and the Eifel region. In 1472 the Rübenach house, built in the Late Gothic style, was completed. Remarkable are the Rübenach Lower Hall, a living room, and the Rübenach bedchamber with its opulently decorated walls. Between 1490 and 1540, the Rodendorf house was constructed, also in Late Gothic style. It contains the vaulted "banner-room". The Kempenich houses were finished about 1530. Every room of this part of the castle could be heated; in contrast, other castles might only have one or two heated rooms.

@Inlemay Oh, it took them more than many centuries then, to construct.

Hello John - I have been thinking of you lately and wondering if you are settled yet and up to some writings, clearly no writings, but I do hope you are settled.
