Shaun the Sheep Alive and Well in Bristol

In 2015 we stayed in Bristol, England for a few days. At the time there was a charity art trail in the city which coincided with a similar one in London. The art trail was organised by Wallace and Gromit's Children's Foundation. Seventy Colourful sculptures of Aardman's Shaun the Sheep had been decorated by various artists and household names and these were scattered throughout the city. Many families were seeking out these sculptures and having photos taken with them. Later the sculptures were auctioned off raising some 1,087,900 pounds for two charities which will benefit sick children. I have photos of eleven different Shauns so I'll put some of the others up in the comments. Each one has been decorated differently.

@judyev We we have a cat garden at Belfast castle where there are 9 cat sculptures among the flowers and fountains which visitors are invited to identify. One day our kids counted 15 because they came across a wild car and her kittens under a wheelbarrow.

Our nephew-in-law works for some health department in Bristol and said it was hoped that spreading the sheep around the town would encourage families to get out and walk more and explore their own city. Here's a green Shaun for you. :)

I gather he is part of the Wallace and Gromit crew although I rarely watch any of these shows either. But I have a friend with a sheep called Shaun so I knew the name from there.

I love it and sheep are wonderful for milking. Sheep Milk was my favorite kind of milk to drink as a child.

@JudyEv I grew up in Oregon and my first animal was a sheep. We drank sheep milk until getting goats and then drank both. I couldn't digest cows milk and doctor said have her drink sheep's milk.

@Fishmomma Did you know of any other people milking sheep? Sorry to be nosy but I'm really curious. It wasn't done here although milking goats was pretty common.

I'm wondering where you grew up as I wouldn't have thought sheep's milk was very common.

I love when they do these for charity. Here in Ocala, they have horses which are now at different locations about town when businesses bought them.

This is a cute sheep. I never heard about Shaun the Sheep and your discussion made me curious, so I searched Wikipedia . Now I know a lot more, even the names of the main characters of the TV series.

@Deepizzaguy So he won't be a child for much longer. Perhaps he isn't even now. :) Children grow up very quickly nowadays.

Is this sheep a character from the Wallace and Gromit movies? It looks very familiar but I can't place it. I have seen where artists create these and decorate them all different ways it is so neat to see them all. I loved scrolling down through your post and seeing all the different ones.

Apparently Shaun the Sheep is an animated motion cartoon and a spin-off from Wallace & Gromit. I'm glad you were able to see the different sheep. :)

We get these kind of public art shows a lot. My favourites were the cows and elephants. I liked the cows so much, I got myself two smaller reproductions
