Cleveland Indians sign free agent outfielder Austin Jackson to a minor league deal

Former Chicago White Sox outfielder Austin Jackson, has signed a minor league contract with the American League Champions Cleveland Indians. Jackson who has played in the Major Leagues with the Detroit Tigers, Seattle Mariners, Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox since he made his debut in the Major Leagues with the Tigers in 2010. Jackson played in 54 games for the Chicago White Sox in 2016 due to an injury to his left knee placed him on the shelf after he played his game as an outfielder for the White Sox on June 9, 2016. The White Sox decided to let Jackson become a free agent at the end of the baseball season. Jackson, 29, will attempt to make the Indians roster as a reserve outfielder during the Spring Training sessions that will be starting around March.
