Seattle Mariners manager Scott Servais on Thursday has named right handed starting pitcher Felix Hernandez his 2017 Opening Day starting pitcher. Of course that is barring any unforeseen circumstance between now and April 3, 2017 when the Houston Astros host the Mariners at Minute Maid Park. The reason that Hernandez was named the starting pitcher of the Mariners is because he gives the Mariners the best chance of winning their first game of the 2017 Major League Baseball season. I am just amazed that spring training has not opened and Felix Hernandez is named Opening Day Starter for the 2017 Major League Baseball season.

What a shock the ace of the staff is opening day starter. It's been how many years in a row now for King Felix?

That is a fact of life that the ace pitcher of any baseball team gets the Opening Day starting assignment. King Felix is the best pitcher of the Mariners team and he deserves to make his next Opening Day start in 2017.
