A couple days ago Mary Tyler Moore died at the age of 80. She was the wife of Dick Van Dyke on the Dick Van Dyke show in the 1960's before going on to her own famous sitcom - The Mary Tyler Moore Show that ran for many years. Yesterday Mike Connors who played Mannix, a private detective, also died at the age of 91. His show ran for 8 years in the 1960's to 1970's. He also appeared in other television shows and movies, his last being Two and a Half Men in 2007. Both actors will be missed.

Such a great loss. When I first read of Mary Tyler Moore's passing I immediately thought of Florence Henderson, another fine actress and true lady, who just passed earlier this year.

@just4him Yes, early in the year I believe. When I had my hair styled I asked to have her style, I think that she was such a timeless beautiful woman.

I heard something about someone yesterday, but didn't hear who and thought it was about Mary Tyler Moore, then a brief trip to FB showed the Mike Connors passed yesterday.

What I find appalling is that I have just spotted an advert on here and it actually says 'You won't believe what Mary Tyler Moore looks like now'. I wish we could report adverts, even if it's a genuine lack of updating. Mary Tyler Moore was a big name here in Britain. As well as enjoying her show and its excellent spin-offs I also loved Hill Street Blues, which her company made. Mike Connors may not have been such a recognised name here but certainly a recognised face. Both actors were from that era when television had found its feet.

It was perhaps the best era of television and now we're losing many of those good upstanding actors. I don't know why they put those pictures on adverts. They are definitely not flattering.

Yes they will. You can't think of Mary Tyler Moore without her radiant smile. And I enjoyed Mannix a lot when it was on, so he too will be missed.

I was never a Mary Tyler Moore fan but sad none the less. I watched Mannix as a kid. Connors lived a long life.
