I guess it is better that i am not feeling well this weekend and not next weekend. I should be feeling much better my then. My daughter and her fiance are having their engagement party next Saturday evening at the bar where she works. It should be a good time. It will be nice to get out for the evening and have some fun. I guess they are not going to get married away after all. That was their plan but there was just so much involved in getting married in another country that they decided to get married here first and then go on their trip after. I am not sure when it will but it will be a small wedding with the Justice of Peace followed by a get together for family and friends. They want to keep it simple.

I think they are right to want something simple. Personally I dislike marriages with hundreds of people. Best wishes to them. I have opened a 30 years old Veuve Clicquot bottle of champagne tonight, I raise a glass to the young couple. Cheers.

@TheInvisibleMan Lol, my father was drinking champagne with his meals, and I have still many old bottles of champagne to drink in my cellar.

That sounds like a very intimate and beautiful start to their marriage and new life together. I hope that you have a great time at the engagement party.

That's the best way - keep it simple . . . save all that money and put it towards something themselves down the road - perhaps their trip. Well hope you feel better and that you all have a blast at their engagement party . . . congratulations to them!

Thank you. I agree. I hate to see them wasting money on a big wedding when the money could be spend in other places.

I love the idea of keeping it simple. My son and his wife were married one year ago, and they sure could have used that money spent on the big wedding for other things, in my opinion. Glad to hear you will be feeling better for the event.

@cacay1 Yes, my husband and I eloped and were married at the courthouse by the judge. After 45 years of marriage, the courthouse marriage worked out well.

Simple is good. After some of the expensive weddings I've been to I'm just about ready to encourage 'elopement' to anyone who'll listen.

I understand them wanting to keep it simple. My wife and I wanted a simple wedding ourselves back when. It didn't become a lavish affair, but it was much more than we originally planned on.

We got married in Mexico and had a legal Mexican marriage ceremony in Cozumel. It wasn't hard. Then we had a party a month or so afterward for everyone.

How exciting! It doesn't matter how large or small or intimate a wedding is, All that matters is that the couple is happy and lives a long, healthy, and wonderful life together. I'm sure your daughter's engagement party will be lots of fun!!!

Wow! That sounds exciting. What are their nationalities? Getting married with a person of different nationality is exciting and challenging I think. My boyfriend is a Korean and I am a Filipina. I do wonder if we will get married and if we will, I also wonder how would it be.

Simple is the best way. Why spend a small fortune on a huge wedding? Even though we did our wedding on a shoestring, the budget was tight. We had an outdoor wedding at one of our state parks. Everyone brought a dish to share. We provided beverages and most of the food. It was a good time!

@Happy2BeMe we told everyone to bring a swimsuit and towel so they could go take a dip in the lake to cool off. Many did and were glad to have done it. The weather was a balmy 90 degrees F that day.
