One of the goals my missus and I set for this weekend was to solidify some of our camping plans for this coming season. As of now, except for Spring Break in April, we have our itinerary set through the end of May. In February we will be working a shift at the RV show at the State Fairgrounds. In March we have two camping weekends planned, one with our club and one on our own. In April we are co-hosting another club even at a campground near the Outer Banks. We're still trying to decide where to go on Spring Break.. In May, we have the statewide club event which our local club is hosting early in the month. We have a personal camping trip planned for the end of May. We are looking forward to spending many fun days and nights camping this year. Have you begun planning your vacations and weekends for the coming months?

Sounds like a lot of fun. We love camping but we are tenters so we have to wait until much later to begin our camping trips. We are hoping to be out by the end of May and then we will camp every weekend until mid September. We visit various parks. We like to try out new places too and if we find ones that we really like we will go back again. We also take a full week in August to go camping in my hometown where we can visit with family and friends. Camping season can't come soon enough for us.

My wife and I, and then with our boys, tent camped for many years. I was an avid tent camper for years before I met my wife. Our boys were both Boy Scouts and during those years we spent many weekends and summer weeks camping. Now the boys are grown, and we're older, we decided to be a bit more comfortable on our outings.

@Happy2BeMe My wife is already planning what she wants in our next RV. Living as permanent campers, at least for the first few years of our retirement, is our plan also.

@DWDavis we will tent as long as we are able but I do understand wanting to be comfortable on your outings. My dream someday is to have an RV when I retire and just hit the road.

@ramapo17 This will be our 4th season with a trailer. After 25 years of tent camping together we finally bought a used popup three years ago. After two seasons with it we were ready for the next step. We're planning in a few years to either get a slightly bigger travel trailer or a 5th wheel. Ultimately, we plan to have get a Class C or a small Class A when we retire. We're going to travel the country for a few years as permanent campers.

The only part I don't like about camping is having to pack up and come back to the real world.

@DWDavis I know what you mean. We got all excited making the plans to go to the campgrounds or race tracks or football games but it got kind of depressing when we knew we were going home. How long have you had an RV or trailer?

Is the photo of your own campervan? If so, camping is no hardship!

The photo is our camper. It is literally a home-away-from-home. After 25 years of tent camping, a few years ago we promoted ourselves to Recreation Vehicle camping. We had a popup tent trailer for two years and bought this one last spring.

@DWDavis Good for you. We got rid of ours a few years ago as my husband had so many surgeries and heart attacks that we were afraid to go any where as I could not drive the big ones.

I hope you get the chance to try it sometime. There is nothing quite like the quiet of waking up in camp just as the sun comes up and enjoying a fresh cup of coffee while watching the day come to life.

I can't wait to go camping and for the camping season to start! I haven't made exact plans yet as I am waiting for my time off work to be confirmed and then it will be into the actual planning stages. I love camping and anything associated with summer!

Here in NC the best times for camping are Spring and Fall. We go in the summer, too, but try to head up to the mountains where it's not quite so hot.

@DWDavis We went from Pennsylvania in the Pocono Mountains to Charlotte for a Nascar race a few times and also to Bristol, Tenn. They were nice long rides with great scenery. We took it to all the Nascar races at Pocono and we use to do volunteer work there for years. We had so much fun. There were hundreds of RV's, trailers and tents all in the infield and we didn't get much sleep the whole time we were there. I miss those days.

If I were alone, I'd have nothing planned. My wife is the planner in this house. On my own, I'd just up and head out when the feeling struck me, and hope a site was available when I got there.

Sounds like you are really going to enjoy yourself. Unfortunately on this end we don't have the means to go on any vacations. This year I am planning on taking more time to just relax in my garden. It seems that the season comes and I think OK at least one day of the week I will go out and sit in the garden. Then the season comes and goes and I haven't done that. I will this year.

We've learned to schedule our time early, or the whole season passes us by and we've missed more opportunities than we've taken. Our goal this year is to camp at least 37 nights.

My son and I have planned out several camping trips for February and March, including a week-long backpacking trip over spring break, This is such a great time of year in the south to be outdoors!

I love spring camping, when the days are warm but not hot, and the nights are chilly but not too cold. Waking up on a crisp, chilly morning, brewing a cup of coffee, and watching the world wake up, it doesn't get much better than that.

Oh, those sound wonderful! Right now, we are working on our son's honeymoon. What you do for one son, you must do for the other. Hopefully, a trip to India in October after the wedding. We have lots of ideas, but won't book until we return home.

@DWDavis At the moment I am working on the Lon Las route from Holyhead to Cardiff and if I've still got energy I can pedal home from there. Should be able to get in a trip along the South Downs as well

Sounds exciting! I'm still trying to get my plans sorted out. The store where I work will be shutting down for 5 weeks starting in March and I need to figure out how I will continue to make money. It's been stressful...

Is the store undergoing a major renovation? Will you be eligible for unemployment while it's closed?
• United States
30 Jan 17
@DWDavis Yeah, we are going through a major remodel. They are giving us the option of working at the stores in other cities but the closest ones I can get to are about an hour away and I'm worried about how bad the weather may be during that time.
