Where There's a Will, There's a Way!

The family and I left for vacation on Christmas Day, and returned right after New Year's Day. As a result of being gone for a week, I got a little behind on my notifications on myLot. No worries, I thought to myself, I'll catch up when I get back home. Well, that was almost a month ago, and today I finally succeeded in getting through every one of my notifications!
At one point, I had just shy of 400 notifications, It seemed like I was going backward instead of forward, but I kept chugging along slowly!
Enter the flu. I came down with it Saturday morning, and it hit me hard, which meant lots of bed rest. But that was a blessing in disguise, as I used the opportunity to spend as much time myLotting as possible. And it paid off, as it is now 9:00 PM on Sunday night, and I am finally caught up on everything!
I apologize if some of my comments were weeks behind. Sometimes I had to go back and read entire threads to catch up on where the conversation was at, or where it was heading. Sometimes I couldn't remember why I wrote some of the things I wrote. But, as I always said I would, I read through each and every comment and responded to every notification.
I'm getting ready to lay down and try to sleep now. Even though I haven't done anything physical today, whenever you have the flu it just wipes out your whole body, including your mind. After getting through close to 400 notifications today, can anyone guess how many new comments and notifications I'll wake up to tomorrow? I'm willing to bet I'll once again be behind! lol

@moffittjc Indeed you are. I got 30 notifications for today and I was already impressed. Imagine how 400 will affect me.

You mean you actually go to the top of a thread if needed?? Cheeze, that's what @daddyevil does.
It's easier to just start where ever the notification takes you and hope you get the gist of it, if not it becomes a comedy.

Uhm... actually, unless you or someone else ask me to start at the top of a thread to explain it, Ann, I usually remember it and don't need to read it all again. 
(I admit, lately, my memory hasn't been good enough for me to do that. I have to start at the top and read everything all the way down right now. That's what takes me so long responding on some of these threads! SMH! (shake my head!))
Oh, I meant to ask you if it helps you when I go ahead and put the meaning of the text speak in parenthesis for you? (You and @JudyEv are the only ones who have complained about not remembering what the text speak means, so I've been doing that for both of you.)

@DaddyEvil Well it's about time. I know a lot of it, but hadn't run across SMH until coming here and couldn't for the life of me figure that one out. I'll have to remember that one now.

You certainly were the Edmund Hillary of notification clearing today. I almost hate to post this response to your discussion knowing it will be one more you have to go through tomorrow.

@moffittjc Yes, it is... the other 75% is made up of a very finely ground grade of uhm... herbs... cough, cough... that's what it says right on the bottle! (That uhm... spacey look is really in this season, too! LOL!)

When I'm sick, I hate lying around doing nothing. It just makes me think about how sick I am. At least withmyLot, I was somewhat distracted from my misery!

@moffittjc All those I know have got the flu this year. I suspect that those who get the flu shot are those who are spreading the germs. We should remember that with the shot they inoculate live germs.

Possibly there will be those that won't see what you've done just yet and maybe you'll have a few extra days before they will begin pouring in, but probably a majority of folks will reply to your comments too. So, you may be behind again, but possibly not quite as far behind as you just got out from under. I know of someone here and there's possibly several that get that many notifications each day.
I'm actually surprised that you were able to get that caught up when you weren't feeling all that hot, or maybe it was that you weren't feeling all that cold?

I had nothing else to do while lying in bed, so I decided to be somewhat productive, even though I'm sick. And by the way, my notification count is back up to high numbers again already!

@jhechorain When you start building up lots of relationships and friends on this site, you can easily get overwhelmed with notifications if you are not constantly active on here keeping up with them. When I went on vacation over Christmas, I was able to interact a little bit, but I ended up getting way behind, and spent the next month playing catch-up.

Yes, you should have right at 150 to 175 new notifications waiting on you to read and respond to them again, Jeff! LOL! (That seems to be about the average number you receive and respond to in a two day period, at least. 
)

I caught up almost 120 notifications this morning. I worked it down from almost 200 to 66 right now. Wa-HOO! (The problem is people respond back!

I'm glad to hear you're back at your computer myLotting. Yet, I'd make a clear cut and would not go back to old notifications. There is no obligation to answer each and every one. Everybody has a right to take a break occasionally for whatever reason.

It is that time of the year. Nearly everyone I know has succumbed to a rotten cold so far this year. You know I know many people scoff at MAN FLU. But actually flu is more dangerous to a man than a woman for some reason so there is truth in the saying which women take great delight in saying it is only man flu! More men die of the flu than women! So I hope you wife was kind to you! Get well soon!

I was actually reading an article recently about the difference between when men get sick and women get sick. It's been jokingly stated for many, many years that men cannot function at all when their sick, but women continue with their everyday lives when they get sick. Now, apparently, there is some scientific evidence that supports the fact that men indeed crash and burn harder than women when they get sick. So it's not just us men acting like babies when we get sick! haha
