Back from my holidays. And my country is in flames.

This was not a good vacation for me. I´m glad that I was a company for my 94 year old aunt. But most of the time we were watching a very old TV set in horror as fires grew in my country. This is much worse that any of the big earthquakes that I have witnessed, except for the 1960 earthquake which is the biggiest ever recorded. When there are big earthquakes, we are prepared. And mostly very old houses fall. But jobs remain so that we can build again what fell down. In these fires, big forests are burning and our timber industry is no more. With that, many people will lose their way of living. Animals have been burned too and wild life is in danger. I can only say thanks for the help of many countries. We are still fighting the biggest fire ever that our country has had.

I did see this on the news today. Apparently it is also raining quite heavily but the rain does not seem to be helping a great deal towards controlling the fire.

It is not raining where the fire is. You may have seen rain because there are big planes throwing water.

@marguicha Rain was specifically mentioned on the news, which they stated was not helping to control the fire.

Thank you. This is absoolutly the worst thing that has happened in my country. If some of the fires have been man made, I would place them in jail for life.

@marguicha if it is caused by man then yes they should be jailed. I hope that they are able to get it under control soon.

We have had the greatest forest fires ever recorded here. And it is not under control yet. We have rented the biggest aircrafts designed to control fires and we have also had international help. Still, the fire goes on destroying everything.

I am so sorry that this happened. This is why I truly believe that we should all be worried about climate change and global warming. These forest fires are a result of this.

The climate has not helped. But there is a possibility that part of them were man made fires.

I have not seen anything about this on our news which makes me again realize how inadequate our news is here in the US they would rather comment on stupid political things than world news.

This forest fire is a greater catastrophe for our country than a big earthquake. And in spite of international aid, it has not stopped.

Part of it is because of natural causes. Yet around 50 people are in prison whjile police checks their participation in the fires.
