Finished Bleak house Dickens Classic.Esther Summerson whose whole personality is based on her conviction that her mother is no grace to her and she is no grace to her .Her behavior aligned to her resolution that she will work hard to make every one happy and earn some love for herself made her obsequious to all outcomes.Ada is more or less a silent personality.

It's a book I tried to read when I was too young. I think I was 13 and I could not really get through it. I gave up. Maybe it is worth revisiting.

At the age of 13 you attempted Bleak house, great- at around the same age I read Pygmalion though it has simpler plot so could sail through.

@suripunj It was in our school library and I picked it up one day because the cover of the book looked dramatic. I have never tried to read Pygmalion, was it enjoyable?

@redurnet It depend the genre you like.A flower girls is trained by a master of phonetics Prof Higgins just to present her as a Duchess in Buckingham Palace. As she refines so grows her expectation from the society and that causes conflict between her and her Master who treats her same as that of flower girl.
