What's for breakfast?

I am on graveyard shift right now and keep thinking about making breakfast when I get back. I am thinking about nasi lemak. It is my favorite and many others in my country. Gosh, I'll start drooling. Do you have any favorite breakfast? Image credited to Google.

What kind of food is Nasi Lemak? Is it similar to that in the picture? I love a breakfast like that, though because we are in a hurry in the morning so as not to be late at work, we only have breads and several choices of sandwich fillings and beverages.

Yes, it is similar. Nasi lemak is rice cooked with coconut milk. It's popular as breakfast menu but it can also be eaten throughout the day. It's eaten with sambal (our version of chili), fried chicken, boiled or fried eggs, fried nuts, cucumbers and some may add more. Some sellers will wrap them in banana leaf and that will enhance the aroma. Now I'm drooling....

@SIMPLYD yes, it's pretty similar. Instead of glutinous rice, we use plain rice.

@prinzcy Oh I see. I guess it is like the "suman" here in the Philippines - a glutinous rice placed on a wrapper made of the rounded coconut leaves. So delicious also to eat with viands.

Nasi lemak can be eaten throughout the day but it is mostly popular as breakfast. Generally, it is rice cooked with coconut milk, sambal which is our version of chili and you may add chicken, boiled or fried eggs, some fried groundnuts, fried anchovies, cucumbers and many other food. Traditionally nasi lemak is wrap in banana leaf, which what I would prefer to buy. What you see in the picture is the modern version.

One of my all time favorites is Biscuits and Gravy. Especially when it is someone who knows how to do the gravy well.

@prinzcy It's about 4 in the afternoon here. Looks like we are about 12 hours apart. I used to eat a big breakfast but now I'm not really that hungry in the morning. I prefer my big meal in the early evening.

@prinzcy This is not about "judging". This is about having an objective opinion on something. Think of it as a civilized discussion, not as "judging". I do not mind people having objective opinions on something, I welcome it.

@prinzcy In other words, you can think of it as giving me a constructive feedback, not as judging.

@prinzcy I so badly want to try all of the nasi lemak - though I am unsure about the anchovies... and now I must look up groundouts too - it all looks like it would be well flavored. Oh stuffed hashbrowns -- the hashbrowns are just shredded potato served fried , the "stuffed" variety usually has stuff like ham, green and red peppers, onions, bacon, sasuage, and cheese in them. May or may not be served with an egg. Delicious

That looks like a very filling breakfast. I like to eat fruit for breakfast, as live in a state with a lot of agriculture and a long growing season.

It is filling and I eat heavy breakfast. I eat less as day progress, so I eat the most during breakfast. I love fruits, but maybe later, in the evening.

We like to have fruit in the mornings. However, this is more like dinner time for you, b/c you will be getting off work, not beginning your day.
