Talk Talk was around from 1981 to 1992 and enjoyed major new wave alternative radio hits with “Talk Talk” and “It’s My Life.” The British band was comprised of Mark Hollis (vocals), Paul Webb (bass), Lee Harris (drums), Simon Brenner (synthasizers) and Tim Friese-Greene (keyboards) with Hollis and Friese-Greene writing “It’s My Life.” From the album of the same name, “It’s My Life” is an iconic synthpop song instantly recognizable to fans of the genre. The song stalled at Billboard #31 but hit #1 on Hot Dance Chart. There is a lush melodic sound. The singer is in love and questioning the other person’s commitment. He is putting his life on the line: “It’s my life, don’t you forget, it’s my life, it never ends.” Gwen Stefani liked the song and No Doubt enjoyed a successful cover in 2004.

I still love that song - I've got it on CD but can always find it on YouTube. Remember that music video of animals in the wild . . . with pop in scenes of him at the zoo? I never quite understood the connection back then . . . I wonder if it was question the freedom of one's life.

Am I the only one who thinks it's rather comical to see a member of an 80s band (the drummer) with a ponytail? Thanks for posting the song. I remember remember Talk Talk.

Didn't think I heard this one, but I recognised it. Sure there is another song with the same title, but more pop
