Roses are red.
You make me blue,
No chocs or rose?
I'm leaving you.

No flowers or wine do you send,
And no time with me do you spend,
But I won't get cross
I don't give a toss,
I'll just run away with your friend.
Just having a bit of fun here, though it's true that Valentine's Day passes by unnoticed in our house. So the following is how I really feel:
He never gives roses and wine
But sure as heck I will not whine,
I will not get cross
Their lack is no loss;
He gives me his love, so that's fine
Do you get the whole works - card,roses, dinner, chocolates, wine?

Cards and flowers were common when we first wed,
But the need to save money is what I said.
Years later I gave my permission
Yet, I think he missed that petition
Since nothings been seen that is red.
Possibly it would have panned out the same way over time anyway, but...

Thanks, I needed that 
I think my dad gave mom roses one year, she was so shocked and surprised.
As for me, nope, that's never happened and I wouldn't really want it to, I don't care much for all that commercial junk they victimize lovers with.5 people like this

Don't abbreviate Valentine's Day on cards - no one appreciates a wish that they have a happy VD Day

Love is all that matters. You are one of the lucky ones in that respect. I get the works every day of the year from my hubby. He is most thoughtful, caring, and loving to me, as I am to him. We also celebrate Valentine's Day. You omitted jewelry!

NO NO NO. I will not subscribe to this commercial rip off! Clinton Cards and Interflora not to mention the markup restaurants will be a lot poorer from my lack of enthusiasm!

Great limericks as always. Valentine's Day goes by without notice here too but Vince is considerate and loving every day which I see as more important. We just never grew up with Valentine's Day.
Valentine's Day will soon be here
No roses or chocolates for me, that's clear
But he's kind and loving
Every day giving
For me there is no peer

@jaboUK My best friend in Texas has been the only guy to think about me on Valentine's Day. No boyfriend has ever given me anything on that day.
And lucky me, my other sweet best friend, DJ, sent me a beautiful Valentine's Card this year.

@jaboUK I didn't know about older relatives giving something to younger. I think I know of Daddies buying chocolates for their little girls. Mostly I see lovers/ couples and best friends sharing the gifts or cards.
That reminds me I sent one to Dani. She received it few days ago. I have a video of her that I requested for. Would you like to see? I already asked for her permission to share on myLot in a post but I don't think I will be making a post of it. I will share it with only few close friends.

I get nothing as I'm a single person.
Valentines to me means a number of large functions at my hotel which involve a LOT of washing up...I hate the washing up side of my job
