Would you use a TV for your monitor or just the regular computer screen?

I am using a regular PC monitor for my computer but I am thinking that it will be more convenient to use a TV as my screen. I believe that it is cheaper considering the price and the size of the screen. Also, I do video rendering and at times it takes an hour to finish. I see it as more productive to just let the computer run in the background while you watch TV shows. There are a lot of websites where you can browse videos or movies but I think that it will be of a lesser load for the computer to just render and do nothing more until it finishes.

The quality of a monitor is much better, especially to read text. My monitor broke and I used a TV for a couple of weeks, but then I bought a new monitor.

I was also thinking of the same thing. But upon watching reviews, they say that TVs may outperform monitors. Given the technology, reviews say some TVs may have more pixel count than the regular monitors. I will be trying out a TV as my main monitor to find out for myself. Thank you.

@jhaidro For the moment I have found a monitor much better than a TV, it's not only a matter of pixel, the proportion was different, I was very deceived by the TV and I am very happy of my new monitor.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Lol! We have TVs, a computer, a laptop, two iPads, and 3 smartphones. They each serve a different purpose.

TVs these days can be used as a computer screen. Some computer users even use the TV as a secondary monitor. This has been a topic for people who do upgrade of their computers. Bigger screens are better as they say. But the question is, should they buy a new bigger computer monitor or a bigger TV and use it as their computer monitor. As long as the TV has a VGA, HDMI, DVI or other means of input, it can be used as a computer screen.

@jhaidro Wow! Thanks for explaining that to me. I'm sure we could do that, but my husband prefers his TV. He'd probably kill me if I took over that, too!

It's becoming a much more popular option these days. You really just need a computer with an HDMI port to make it work. Just watch out for Vizio's models if you decide to do that. They're making home theater displays that don't have tuners now, so you can't get over the air broadcasts directly on them without other equipment.

I think that manufacturers should reconsider. Maybe they are thinking of removing some features from televisions believing that the internet is replacing the TV Networks. I am thankful for the internet but the TV idea should stay. These days, everyone is broadcasting. Be it photos, videos or something else, I see it as just too much.

Try it out and see if it works.
