We are at lucky #7 in my Favorite "Party" Songs series, and it's a tune that I've actually used before in a music countdown about protest songs: "War Party" by Eddy Grant. Born in British Guyana, Grant has been active in the music industry since 1965, when he founded one of the UK's first racially integrated pop groups, The Equals. Although he is best known for his smash 1982 hit, "Electric Avenue," the man has written some stellar songs over the years (The Clash covered his "Police on My Back" on their Sandinista! album.) He has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the government of Guyana. I am a big fan of protest songs. "War Party" is one of my favorite's. (Info verified by Wikipedia)
