I don't know if people are being smart with me.

I got up to get the phone to hear how was the candle. I said it was nice but I cut off the warmer to cut down on using the electric. I said I lowered the bill by $30 I need it off a little longer. I then heard well $30 is no money. I did not know how to take that. I said well for me $30 can pay my bills. He said his bill is $700. I said then someone is callous with lights. I could use that and more off my light bill. I don't think it's cool to down play on someone trying to make ends meet. I am just hoping I took that the wrong way.

Some people feel like it proves how great they are to be able to afford big bills. I would not think it was so smart to have a $700 light bill, because I could sure spend that money elsewhere.

I know they are struggling because I had to help them a few times. Now I feel like sh with me trying to lower down a $78 light bill.

I'd like to be able to have 700 to spend freely

@sharon6345 They're struggling because they make bad financial decisions, like paying $700 for a light bill without batting an eye. I wouldn't offer them more help until they actually commit to making changes like cutting down their electricity usage. Why should you sacrifice something so they can have everything they want... especially when they're being that stupid with their bills? Nope, let them figure it out for themselves.

If the person you were talking to has a $700 light bill, then that person should be taking a long hard look at ways to conserve.

$700!? That's more than my mortgage..... for me $30 can pay for 2 months of my gas bill, or 1 week of food, or half a tank of gas for my truck.or if I have nothing else to spend on, that can get me 20 coffees lol

One huge bill. I have cut down a lot but we have to pay a fixed amount a month anyway but that too is the minimum. At least I try to keep it down like you. Would not worry you know you work at it to save light and that is what is important.

That is what I am feeling as well. This is not good for people to have that kind of bills.

Heck 30.00 may not be much to this person but for a person that lives on a certain amount of money a month 30.00 is a lot of money. And for this person that has 700.00 bill they need to cut out their lights more and other things in their home that is crazy.

$30 is a lot of money to me. I take all the money I make online and buy things that we need. Cleaning supplies etc for the month.

That pays my cell bill. I could use it for cleaning supplies too.

If $30 is such an insignificant amount to them, tell them to give it to you. Then keep doing what you're doing to cut your bills. Whoever it was can't admit that you're right to focus on cutting where you can, because that goes against everything they believe. $700 on a freaking electric bill, how obscene... that's more than I spend on my rent every month.
