'Help' at myLot says it differently

I got prompted to write this post when doubts were raised by @AliCanary, This is what we find in the FAQs regarding earnings here "How do I earn money exactly? - It's simple... Just participate! Any time you start a discussion, respond to a discussion, or comment in a discussion, you are making a contribution that is eligible for earnings." But in effect it is not so. Time and again veterans here have clarified this. They say that it is only when users respond or comment on our activity we earn Should there be a change in what is given in FAQs ? Could @goaskalice please clarify

It doesn't say that you will earn every time you start a discussion, only that you are making a contribution that is eligible for earnings.

If no one responds to a post there are no earnings and so the question of eligibility does not arise. If myLot can make it simple, that would help, As many newbies too thought they will earn when they post an activity and veterans here have clarified that.

@allknowing Yes,I think a couple of sentences, clarifying what is given in the FAQs would be helpful.

Most have not understood it. There is not a single day when users are told that it is not what they post that brings them earnings but what others post in their activity.

@JolietJake The fact of the matter is it is only here we earn when others put in their efforts which some cannot seem to digest (lol)

There isn't really any inconsistency. The key word here is 'eligible'. If you don't post anything, of course, you won't earn anything but you also "likely" won't earn anything if you post something and nobody interacts with it in some way.

@allknowing I think that most people who think that do so either because they have read some very old blog or article about myLot or because most other sites work that way (sort of) and they simply assume that myLot does. Most of those who think that payment is based on their own activity haven't bothered to read the Earnings Program FAQs carefully, if at all. We shall always have to correct and educate many new members.

if you want to tag alex/mylot admin in your discussion, response or comment shouldn't it be goaskalice with the @ sign? they also said 'likes' also earns, not just respond or comment.

That sign is added there. Yes likes also earn but that is not mentioned in the faq

@hereandthere I have done the change but it is still not a link

@allknowing but the correct tag is still goaskalice, not goaskalex. he (alex) can change the display name (like yours is 'always smiling') but he can never change the name after the @ sign because he just inherited that account from the original alice.

I didn't really have doubts so much as questions, but I finally figured out that I had misinterpreted what was meant by "posting" - I thought it meant a "discussion", but it seems anything can be posted, including comments and responses. I have been told in the past by other users that only activity on your own posts was counted, but I think they may have read it the same way I did, in error. The snippet you have excerpted above seems to explain it more than the one I originally read. Kudos to MyLot for counting comments and responses, as it encourages more social activity!

This comment of yours made me write this post "Thank you! What puzzles me is how everyone seems to know this, as it doesn't seem to be spelled out anywhere. Kind of confusing...how did you find out?"

Actually it doesn't matter for me. I mean as long as it works it's okay for me.

It is a matter of interpretation. To become eligible for something and to earn are two different things. There is nothing wrong in your suggestion. Clarity in a statement always helps in better understanding.

The fact that those who I consider learned also have doubts shows it needs to be simplified.

I do not think a clarification is needed. The FAQ is very clear on how the earning program works here in the site.

I don't feel the problem with the faqs and I do my best not to violate rules as I got myself deleted from time to time.
