Diary Thursday 16th February 2017 A quite routine job search and job club day. I prepared and sent off application forms and my resumes to various companies including a few I was ordered to approach by my welfare officers. The weather started warming up quite pleasantly today. Diary Friday 17th February 2017 A long training course today with the voluntary speaker’s group I support through the university. This was geared up to helping us prepare for talks and workshops we will be actively involved in, with a few group and individual training exercises along the way. Unlike imposed government work-programme training events, this was enjoyable and interesting. The training is in two parts with the second taking place next Friday, and at which I’ll be giving a short presentation myself which will be critiqued by other attendees as well. Arthur Chappell

Are you actually in any way a match for the companies you are ordered to approach?

@asfarasiknow rarely, apart from a few basic warehousing centres

@asfarasiknow it is very hard for carers to get all the financial support they need at present though

@asfarasiknow yes that is a growing and much needed profession though more nursing homes are privatized - we need more NHS care for the elderly and other needy too

@bunnybon7 apart from paid work I seem to have too many projects on at once at present

I'm sure your presentation will go well. We haven't seen any pub signs for a while. :)

@JudyEv the signs will return - not had a chance to get new photos while the bad weather seasons are on us

@arthurchappell I keep forgetting that the weather stops you from doing this and that. It doesn't often happen here - maybe just a day or two or perhaps a week at the most.

@JudyEv the photos wouldn't look at their best being captured in gloomy lighting and it would be quite grim walking round in perpetual drizzle

My hubby had to attend a government-work programme and said it was a waste of time.
