What Is The Proper Role Of The Press/News Media In Society?

February 19, 2017 1:28pm CST
The freedom of expression,of speech and of the press are among the cheerish rights guranteed and recognized in almost any democratic society in the world. The role of the press/news media cannot be underestimated. It's been said that its the Fourth Estate or Fourth Power in society. Is the American press overly critical of Pres. Trump? Is Pres.Trump justified in saying about the so-called "fake news" being made by the press? I wanna hear from you guys. Thanks.

We no longer have a free press. Nearly all of our media outlets have an agenda that they are pushing. Some are conservative, most are left-wing. I say left wing because they are not liberal--liberal means free thinking but the left wing faction here is against free thought, free speech, and self expression unless it agrees with what the left thinks. So the press fawned all over our last president, refusing to publicize anything negative and praising him constantly. The one before, Bush, they criticized but not to the extent they are doing right now. Now they are seeking out anything negative and blowing it up. If we get into a war or have our economy fail I will put 90% the blame squarely on the press.

Sensationalism and exaggerations also exists in the news media. Wittingly or unwittingly, the press could be use as platform/medium to advance vested interest and hidden personal agenda.
