Throwback Thursday : A Favorite From Childhood

In the attached picture is my favorite candy from my childhood . I think, some of the Filipinos of my age can relate to the Choc Nut, a chocolate milk powder with powdered peanuts, shaped into a bar. It can be bought in every store before and I don’t know how much it costs during the early 70’s when I was still in primary grades. Now, they cost 5 pesos or $ .10 for 3 pieces, an officemate is selling. No wonder, at an early age, grade 6 , I already had a partial denture. My sister-in-law’s then boyfriend, when he came home from Australia, bought lots of it. And everyday he would eat them. It’s his favorite too from his childhood, he said. It’s throwback Thursday, can you share a favorite food from childhood?

I loved a chocolate with hazelnut, it was called Giandjot, you can see an old photo. If you look carefully it was from Ferrero and this chocolate was the ancestor of Nutella. In the fifties it was only made with cocoa, no all the fats that are included now.

Oh so you still have the photo. If that have been available too here in the Philippines, during my childhood days or even now, it will also be one of my favorites.

@SIMPLYD No, it was not available outside Italy in the 50's, Ferrero opened the first plant outside Italy in Germany in the late fifties, but the sales outside Europe only started in the 80's.

you wouldn't believe it, but we often buy these choc-nuts and even the different brands, and eat them with rice, as desserts.

I grew up in California and loved the candy from a local company...Annabelle's. The candy bars were: "Big Hunk", Look, and Rocky Road. Also Abba Zabba. but not sure that is from Annabelle. I think they still make all these candies but don't distribute outside of the state.
