Big Brother aka Walmart

Don't get me wrong...I really like Walmart most of the time. It's about the only place near us to shop unless we drive to a larger town 45 minutes away. However. I like to order things from Walmart.com and save shipping costs by picking them up at the store. Recently when I went to the pick-up dept, a clerk was just standing there with my package on the counter. I thought, "Wow, great service!" The next time it happened, I thought "This is strange. How did she know I was on my way to pick this up?" I asked and she said that my text on my smart phone from them telling me my package had arrived, alerted her when I walked in the store! This is too creepy, too Big Brotherish. Technology can be way too intrusive. George Orwell would agree.

Yikes, I agree with you. I like to shop .com too but I always have stuff delivered here. Of course I also make sure to buy only when I need to restock the pantry so that I buy enough to get free shipping, it's always worked out well for me.

I order from WW online and have it delivered. They dropped the shipping fee to free at $35.

Sometimes my purchases aren't over $35, but I like having them shipped to the store since I often go there.

@1creekgirl If I am going to pick it up in the store then I might as well walk around the store!!

yes technology can surely harm people if not kept in check.

That is a bit unsettling but does provide good quick service.

Yes, it was nice not to have to wait for someone to find my package, but too intrusive.

That is getting just a bit too much, don't you think? You'll need to be careful with your thinking next!

It seems crazy, but I wouldn't be surprised if someone figures out how to read and influence our thoughts.

I wouldn't like that either. I don't have a smartphone or even a cell phone for that matter so I don't have to worry about it.
