Plan B (or is it C, D, E?) seems to be working

Computer update: Since I had issues after the computer guy was here I hated the thoughts of him having to come back. Not so much because I dislike him, but that stinky stuff he wears would have made my cold so much worse. I'm having a hard enough time taking a breath! Anyway, he had me try several things and none worked...his last suggestion was to download Firefox and keep Google Chrome on the back burner. I did that and got FF all set up to my satisfaction. Granted I have not been online as much as normal the last day but so far so good. No error messages, no pages freezing up and no more having to do a 'restart' which had become a necessity when screens froze. I guess once I am online more often will be a better test, but so far so good and I didn't have to pay him any more money LOL! Photo: pixabay.com/en/b-letter-alphabet-alphabetically-1015529/

I hope it works so he does not have to come back. What was he wearing? His cologne?

This is no doubt because either Chrome was corrupted or you a certain advert was affecting it.

He said if I wanted to go back to Chrome to download it and start from scratch - but so far I'm ok with FF.

@AbbyGreenhill A browser is a utility that I have no preference with. I have used several different operating systems, each of which have their own browser, but usually find myself satisfied with whatever I have.

I'm happy to hear that you found an option that works. I've never used Firefox. Have had some issues with Chrome but thought it was more due to a virus I have and can't get rid of .

Thanks, I think it's time for a visit to the doc - the coughing isn't getting any better.

As someone who suffers from scent sensitivities I can understand why you would not want him back in your home.

So, is actually Chrome causing you the issue? Good that at least you can use Firefox to go online now. I wonder if re-installing Chrome helps. Glad that the computer guy doesn't need to be there too.

Yes, pretty sure it's Chrome. I am having no issues with FF so I'll stick with it for a while.

so odd that chrome is an issue, Ive had none, but then again, I dont use extensions

I only had two extensions and they were on since the day I got this computer , not that long ago...so since I disabled them and still had issues, it wasn't due to extensions.

@AbbyGreenhill I am betting there are other things too, like when flash was updated or something

I'm glad you're back up and running without the screen keep freezing up on you, it takes away the pleasure of using the computer when that keeps happening... I hope your cold will soon be gone too....

I had so many technicians that came to try and fix my computer at times and all they wanted was money or food from me or pieces of things. They were horrible. My technician I have I should have contacted long before I did but he is my technician now. He is great.
