“Don’t complain if it is your own doing”

There are people who do some things that their body cannot tolerate or bear. They seem to challenge how far their body can endure the strength of strenuous activities. Take the case of my sister. She is 68 years old now but she looks more than 50; in fact, when we stand side by side, I am often thought of as her older sister because I am taller than her. But I am stronger, both physically and emotionally. She is the worrier while I am the warrior. This day, she cleaned the cabinet of my brother and put back the big boxes inside. She carried the big boxes alone without assistance from me and my son. I asked her if she needed help; she said ‘no’, so I just sat down in front of the television set. Then she cleaned some cups but she knows she has skin allergies to soap and dish-washing paste. Now, she is complaining. What I told her was; “You know you have joint pains and allergies, why do you still do those things not allowed for you to do?” She kept quiet. She admitted her mistake. How would you react if somebody complains about everything and it is his fault?

@ridingbet , she knew you offered to help, so once you pointed out to her that she shouldn't have done those things. She knew you were right and could not say much more. I hope next time she will take help offered to her.

@ridingbet , that is a big problem. I still hope that next time help is offered, she will take it. It would make life easier for her.

@bluesa i think she is doing the heavy work at home because she is trying to live up to her being our oldest sibling, and all responsibilities should be shouldered by her, which i contradict. we her siblings are no longer small children and we can contribute now. i guess her attitude is permanent in her mind now.

to my sister? she is as hard-headed as the coconut, my dear. this morning when she closed our door, she was in a hurry so she hurt herself in the process of putting the lock on.

She should have taken the help you offered. She sounds stubborn.

People tend to do this all the time. I carry heavy things then complain about back pain....

I would think that person wants attention.

oh, my, but she wants attention as always my dear friend. like now, while we are watching TV (she, while i listen), she said she is itching and i told her, "why did you wash the dishes again? i told you i will do that after preparing dog food".

My reaction would be the same as yours - 'you've made your bed, now lie on it',

hahaha! so true, my dear. i don't know if she needs my attention. if ever i need attention, i can just go directly and talk to her or my son.

It would get on my nerves and I'd say something not too friendly.

I think it's natural to test our limits. I'm also allergic to dish soaps and bath soaps. It took a long time of trial and error to find something I wasn't allergic too or that I could tolerate in the case of dish soap. Now that I have a dishwasher, things are a lot better in that category. I'm still telling myself I'm strong enough to do some things, even though I have a weight restriction of only 20#. I do what I can and rest often when I deal with the heavy stuff since I live alone and there is no one here to help me with it.

yes, it is but natural for us to challenge our bodies into the things that limit our strengths , but when we feel we can no longer do it, it would be wiser to give up that chance and live according to our limits.even if we believe we can, we must think of our bodies and not abuse it.

Oh I could not blame your sister because people are like that, and that's including me. We put ourselves to the things we know can give us some complications or pain, we put ourselves to that, because we wanted to work. Then we complain later... but its not a complain, actually she just wants some compliment from you.

yes we can work but only until what our body can do. consider this: overstretching a muscle will cause it to be hurt. just like our health, if we push it beyond its limits, we will feel more ache and pain compliment? she always has that from me.

that is the advantage of having your love beside you or near you. he will always look into what you are doing and tell you to limit your activities. consider that he also knows you are sick.
