Okay, not quite singing, maybe more like softly singing, because I am no super singing star! What is making me sing my day away? I found a channel playing Eighties music, and before I knew it, I was humming and singing  along to songs I thought I had long forgotten! I am talking, A-ha, Duran Duran, Aerosmith, Queen, Van Halen and so many more! The words from songs just came back to me from seemingly nowhere and I was singing away. Do you still listen to Eighties music? Who were your favourite groups, bands, or singer's from the Eighties? @JolietJake and @TRBRocks420 have been talking music, I am no music fundi like them though. Have a great weekend ahead all Photo is of me on Christmas Day, Cheers!

I prefer the oldies from the '60s, but love Aerosmith, especially Steven Tyler, and some of Queen, only because I was given signed photos by one of the band member's sisters. Don't ask me who! I prefer classical music. Lol!

I listen to a wonderful channel here in the uk called Classic Gold FM and they play all the music from the 50's, 60's and 70's. I love it and it brings back such happy memories of when I was a child. OK I am going to man up here and tell you that when I was about 3-4 years old Diana Ross was my idol I loved her I used to kneel in front of the television and thought she was singing baby love to me................Gawd what an idiot eh! I saw her in a concert in Hyde Park London about 10 years ago. I had been excited for months on end getting really excited. My heart dropped a beat I can tell you I was distraught my superstar Diana Ross could not sing to save her life, she squealed and screeched, she was awful. My childhood dreams were shattered. I am a heartbroken man! I hope that was a very large glass of Amarula!

Oh my goodness, Gary, that is so sweet about "baby love" !!! I love Disco music, many say it was just silly, but I love it. Sorry about Diana Ross, some singers only have a good studio voice and can't sing live at all. Yes, spot on, it was Amarula! How did you know @garymarsh6 ? I would so share!

@bluesa I only discovered it a couple of years ago and boy isn't it delicious. More so than Baileys. I am not really a cream drinker but Amarula is like nectar of the gods! She was only singing because it was Prince Charles Charity and he was going to be there. The superstar of the concert though was Shirley Bassey. My God even after all these years she can still belt out a song she is amazing! So there was some consolation Shirley Bassey is my dream idol now! Actually I could be her toy boy couldn't I. She is in her 70's now! OMG Catherine I have just checked and she is actually 80! My daughter met her on a flight a few months ago and said dad her skin is like porcelain she is beautiful. Now that is something coming from a young pretty stewardess saying she is pretty eh!

I tend to know all the lyrics from all the songs from when I was young and even those before my time but all have such a hard time remembering the lyrics from more modern songs.

@shaggin , I think it is because new music is flying out every day. Back then a popular song would play for a time. That's what I like to tell myself any way. :)

Yeah, the 80's was a good time for music. I like the ones you already mentioned, especially Queen. Trying to think who else to mention. Blondie, Madness, Adam & The Ants, The Jam. And who can forget Captain Beaky? God knows I've tried.

@bluesa You're right, the hair. It was special back in the 80's. That's because I had some. You've got me thinking now - what else have I lost since then?

I love old songs, 50's 60's 70's 80's...all of them. The older the music the sweeter it grows. I have no particular favorite though, they are all so good.

By the time the 80's came around I was busy with kids and moving to Canada. It was a busy time for us and I wasn't listening to a lot radio. I do remember Captain & Tennille, Kenny Rogers with Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, Whitney Houston, The Beach Boys...not exactly rock and roll...

@bluesa the "Bohemian Rhapsody" is the song that i always tell my students during case colloquium on mental health and psychiatric nursing because of the sudden change of tempo of the song. highs then lows, slow, then fast---so similar to the mind of a personality-deranged person. when my students do not know how the song goes, i would sing the first 4 lines, and they would clap because i sing with my low voice.

80s had some Great music. Loved Queen, Journey, Air Supply, Cars. Still find myself from time to time going back to those times and remembering where I first was when I heard these songs and groups. And yes, I still sing along with them when I hear them too.
