Do you have Android 7 on your mobile phone?

The release of Android 7 to mobiles began last October, but with a schedule to release it to different phones at different times. My mobile is the Sony Xperia Z5 compact and was due to be updated this January. However, some bugs were discovered and the release was delayed until last week. As a result I only got the update this morning. Being a major update it took a while to install, so I simply put the mobile to one side and concentrated on Mylot. The update is now complete, but apart from a minor difference in icon appearance I cannot find anything new about the system. I checked online, but without much success. I expected some significant changes, yet cannot see anything new. To those now using Android 7, have you noticed anything different to the previous version?

I have an iPhone. But normally when they do updates I don't see much difference.

The iPhone would not use Android, but they probably have regular updates nevertheless.

@Jeanniemaries That sounds very much like Apple. Usually a version upgrade with Android is significant.

@Asylum Oh they do, and it's always a biiiiig deal. But I never really see much difference. It is really more like tweaking the system. But it's heralded like the Second Coming.

It may be a while yet because the release has only recently begun for some models.

@LadyDuck Assuming that he does not have any data facilities either then you are definitely right.

@Asylum I think that he turned off the wifi, if this is the case of course he cannot get the update. He only uses the phone to make calls.

I know a few people with older mobiles, which are adequate for some because they still do the main job of making telephone calls.

@Asylum I have absolutely no issues. I do not even have a skype connection, neither whatsapp. My life is in no way hampered.

Due to the delays, mine should have been the last model to receive the update, but many members are still using version 6.

Underwhelming I think:
Sony Xperia X Compact Android 7 Nougat New Features. Comparison s Xperia Z5 Compact on Android 6 Marshmallow.

I completely agree because the changes seem rather superficial and uninspiring. This should be a minor upgrade and not a new version.

@Asylum As I got a new phone at the start of January, it came with some version of 6.x. My previous phone was on 4.4. I was just getting to grips with the new phone when 7.0 landed on it about 3 weeks after I got it, and still don't know what was a 6 feature and what has been put on it by the 7.0 upgrade. Ah well, I do quite like the smoother response of my OnePlus 3T, it has to be said, regardless of the version of Android that powers it - better than my 3yr old htc one mini.

You need to look under Settings for About Phone, which is where the Android version is listed.

My cellphone is Nexus 5 which is still an old model. So the operating system is Android 4.4.2 and I think I can have the latest operating system when I buy a new phone

I have an iPhone so don't get Android updates. But I find the same thing for most updates, not much changes.

If you saw my phone you would laugh. Its an old flip phone and all it can do is make calls & text. My grandchildren call it the Flintstone phone

At least it makes calls, which is the main purpose of a phone. I find it incredible that people will pay hundreds of pounds for a mobile and never make calls.

For all the difference that it appears to have made, mine may as well be.

To my knowledge mine isn't the newest version. I'd have to look. I doubt that I have enough memory or space for it. I ave a Verizon ellipsis.

I had overlooked the fact that any upgrades would only be downloaded to phones with the appropriate capacity.
