When every discussion is your 'first' discussion...

Sometimes, you have to either just throw your hands up and walk away, or risk going insane trying to get through to some people. I've spent three days (to no avail) trying to get someone to understand what a 'discussion' means here. I was going to send them a PM explaining a few things, but nope...they don't accept them. I've seen 7-8 'discussions' from them now...each time, their name has (1) next to it because their posts keep getting deleted. I see they are 'following' 16 people...but have yet to make a response to any of their discussions. Every time I have tried to point out the guidelines, it has been on a discussion that I know will get deleted, so I don't know if they have even seen them yet. Maybe it is time to just give up...

It can be very frustrating when someone is constantly failing but refuse to accept responsible advice. The practice of posting discussions without even considering interacting elsewhere is a very common mistake with new members.

Yeah, but if they'd even stop to post a 'discussion' it might help. Nothing lasts long enough to even really communicate with them.

@JolietJake Which would result in them conceding and leaving soon, which is why I cannot understand why they do not seem to want to learn.

You can only do so much. If they don't want to listen or follow the rules then there's nothing more you can do. You tried your best.

My guess is that they want to Mylot their way. They will eventually tell the world that this site is a scam.

Earlier I have seen someone write two or three liners simultaneously and the content is taboo. Someone called her attention and gave her tips and she felt like her freedom of expression was violated. Shakin my head.

I've currently got someone who doesn't appear to understand copy/pasting things here is wrong...they said they won't delete it because it would 'give the impression they were wrong'...

@JolietJake without them realizing that not deleting it by themselves does not prove that they are right. Well, at least you tried to help but they do not want any of your help apparently.

Some folk are grateful for help. Sadly others are not and fall into the unteachable category. I drop clangers at times and don't mind if something is pointed out to me. The unreasonable never last the course.

I finally stopped making cat posts where. I just act like a cat. I think now that I am tallking more serious posts people like it. I wonder if people enjoy my Trump posts more. I think people hate them.. but its something to discuss. I rather just be a cat. But that's against the mylot rules... So behold a lot more Trump and political posts coming! with serious discussion !

Some people will never learn, they do not listen and they do not even want to know. I still try to help, but it's frustrating.

It sounds like you've been really patient with trying to help them, but some people come here with their own agenda and when that doesn't happen, they'll claim the site a scam and that they got the short end of the stick. We all know that isn't true.....but we play by the rules don't we?

@JolietJake I heard somewhere once that the definition of insanity was doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results...I've got to admit, though, that I'm guilty of revisiting the same topics over and over again with some MyLot contributors. I guess we like to delude ourselves into thinking that we will eventually get through.

I have seen many try to explain to these people what the rules are and they all fall on deaf ears or, eyes in this case. No sense in trying if they refuse to put the information to use.

Some people just do not want to learn what it takes here or any other site in life what it takes to be successful. Many times, these are the ones who cannot accept criticism especially when it is helpful. Then eventually they finally catch on or leave telling everyone what a Bad site this was and no one here liked them.

I've never had a post deleted but I always try to ask a question on my discussions so that people can answer. I wouldn't say they are always popular but I usually get some responses.. Today I'm trying to respond to other people's posts too. I think it takes a bit of practice to fully grasp it and get it right but it isn't difficult.
