What are your limits and boundaries on MyLot?

I notice that MyLotters write about diverse things, and I really enjoy that. You probably know who I'm talking about if I say that I've learned about life on a ranch in Australia, painting on slate, how women are treated in India, how to fix certain computer issues, how lovely Switzerland is, how delightfully dry the German sense of humor can be, random gardening tips, weather patterns in Wisconsin and my native Illinois, how I can join up with a MyLot friend in a little "experiment," and so on. But I've also noticed that people vary widely in how "personal" they get in their MyLot posts. Some discuss current heartbreaks or issues with loved ones; others don't. Some discuss medical issues they're facing right now; others don't. I've noticed that I treat my MyLot friendships a bit like friendships in the real world. I reveal a bit more (sometimes in PMs) as I get to know people better. For a long time, I didn't want to reveal my real name, but now, anyone who has seen one of my music videos knows my real name. And so on. Where do you draw the line? Was it a conscious decision on your part? Or have you just "gone with the flow"?

Vat? There's a German on the site with a dry sense of humour? Vell, I never!

Yep, those things happen. There are a handful of people I'm still in touch with from my Epinions days. I joined Epinions in 2000 or 2001, I think. "The site that will not be named" came way later.

@pgntwo Why the 'no naming' of Bubblews? I haven't been struck down yet and I name it quite regularly.

Naturally there are clear limitations on what I would post here, but the criteria that decides it is so diverse that it would be difficult to put into words.

I like to talk about my interests. And I don't mind talking abut frustrations (texting drivers and such). Even politics and religion are OK with me. Nobody knows who my parents were.

I think I talk about pretty much anything. I have nothing to hide no secrets necessarily. I am just being me. Of course there are certain subjects that I won't discuss which may be peculiar to British people like how much money I have or earn or want. It is deemed vulgar to talk about such things. I try to avoid politics and religion where possible. IF I wanted to hear about politics I would listen to a party political broadcast and if I wanted religion rammed down my neck I would go to church! Apart from that pretty much anything goes!

I don't reveal anything particularly personal here on myLot. I'll talk about medical conditions but in a general way. I'll talk about travel or where I live but again in a general way.

My love life is off limits, family troubles are off limits, life is something that I write about as it happens without getting too detailed. I guess I have a group of close friends on here much as in real life and they perhaps have gleaned a bit more and certainly the ones I have met, know me and are real life friends.

I write about most anything I feel like writing. I have written about how I feel about things that have gone on in my life and about things that are going on in my life now. I choose to write about things I think people will find interesting and so on. I don't set any kind of boundaries for myself. I just enjoy writing and sharing.

I'm about to post something a bit 'closer to the bone' (@LoriAMoore -origin?) than I normally do but I think I still will. I don't normally reveal too much that's too personal - at least I hope not. I guess I judge if I will post some information or not on whether I'd be embarrassed if the person involved were to read it. I'd love to post about our DIL who can't stand us but I won't! I think it is possibly very cathartic for some to air their problems but you always need to think of what the consequences might be.

Interesting post. I love learning all sorts of things here on my lot. Usually something will happen during the day and I will feel inspired to write about it or some aspect of it. I would love to share more about my family relations but I don't because I know people wouldn't understand, about my (lack of) love life - but there too I don't want to be seen as a complainer and write the same list of complaints over and over again so I will wait for opportune times to write about romance (eg. what would have been my 5 year engagement anniversary is coming up.), and I would love to share about my childhood, but... it was highly unusual and I doubt people would believe me anyway. I have thought on writing it out as a ficitional story. Hey! I would like to see your videos. Is that a flyer for your band? GIg sounds fun - do you get to eat too?

Ha! I think I've posted quite a bit about myself in here, I've got nothing to hide, lol. If you wanna stalk me, fine, if you want to pony up the dough to get to middle of nowhere Utah, then sure! If you wanna PM me, that's awesome too. Please I've seen way too much to really get freaked out over anything. I'm here to socialize, dagnabbitt! The only thing I will not post is anything on politics, as I stated in a post 2 weeks ago. Mostly cause it angries the blood and im not here to cause a war... love, peace and Chicken grease!

My name is out there this time around. I try to be general about my work. My health, it is what it is, mostly unrevealed. I do not tell myLot anything I would not tell the local press if we had any. Sometimes I find myself all twisted up in the amount of "stuff " shared.

I am an open book..what you see is what you will get..kinda person..lol. I think net is such a rotten thing, the more you try to hide the more people would spend time trying to investigate you...you might as well bore them so much that they don't bother with trying to know you...anyway that is my take. :) If I had robbed a bank or murdered anybody...I would not have told that here you know...somethings are always better kept a secret...for the rest, there is myLot. :)

I usually try to not go too much in details on what I write. Just to protect the innocent, as i would say, but events and other things, is good to talk about. I try to not write to much of a lengthy novel. It takes too long for people to read it.
