My 2 Cents Worth For Today

At least that's all I've earned so far today. It's my own fault. I've been very busy today and yesterday. Yesterday, we spent the whole day from 8am to 6pm at the Raleigh Convention Center at the Ignited By Faith Conference. Last night we treated Son2 and his GF to dinner at The Melting Pot. It was one of the most enjoyable meals I've ever had. Our server was awesome. The food was delicious. Our son's GF is charming and smart. She's majoring in microbiology. Today, we spent most of the day at the Fair Grounds working at our Camping Clubs booth. We did get a chance to look around at the new models of campers, and picked out 3 we like. No, we won' be buying one this year. My missus and I spent the night up in Raleigh rather than commute home in between the two. We're home now, and I finally have time to check in. So, you have all y'all's weekend been?

My weekend has been relaxing other then my father getting into a 4 wheeler accident. I have heard of The Melting Pot. I assume it must be a chain restaurant. Was this the first time you met your son's girlfriend?

I hope your father is okay. Yes, The Melting Pot is a chain restaurant. And, yes, it was our first time meeting the GF.

@Kandae11 It really was WOW! I've never sat down to a meal that lasted 2 1/2 hours before, but by the time we made it through all 4 courses that was how long we'd been there. It was an amazing dining experience, but I think it will be a long time before we visit again.

@DWDavis I love places that are more of an experience than a meal! I'll try to get there soon.. I actually just mentioned to hubby last week that I'd love to go there sometime. But we had the kids with us that day and I want to try it without the kids first, then I'll decide if they'll even like it..

@katsmeow1213 I wouldn't recommend it with younger kids, but if they're in their tweens or teenagers they might enjoy it.

We loved to have a look at those beautiful big campers in the United States, our roads are so narrow that we could never have one to turn Europe.

If I were to tour Europe, I think I'd rather go by train and boat so as not to have to worry about driving. I've had some friends take the barge trips and they sound wonderful.

@LadyDuck I think I would stick to the buses and trains. My son said the public transport in Germany was highly superior to what we have here in the US. And I am used to wide roads and ample parking.

@DWDavis The barge trips in Germany and France are a beautiful experience. The European cities are crowded with a very bad traffic, it's better not to drive here if you do not have the habit to narrow roads and lack of parking.

The IBF Conference is an annual Catholic conference where you can go to hear speakers on a wide variety of subject related to the Catholic faith. This year we heard speakers on the Reformation, Pope (now Saint) John Paul II, a couple who saved their marriage by turning from earthly things to the Lord, a lady who used to manage a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic telling what really goes on at PP, and several others.

Most of us do have busy and fun lives outside of myLot. You had a wonderful weekend and that's all that matters. Saturday I had a manicure and went out to an amazing dinner with amazing friends and out for a hot fudge sundae. Today I spent the afternoon sailing.

Our weather here lately has made me wish I still had my sailboat. Friday would have been a perfect day for sailing. Sometimes I miss it so bad it almost hurts. Then I remind myself that while I don't get to sail anymore, I do get to camp with my missus and it is something we enjoy together.

@DianneN No, sadly, my wife doesn't enjoy being on the water. She gave it a valiant try, and did enjoy some aspects, such as the day a pod of dolphins swam alongside us for a while, but in the long run it just wasn't for her. When the boys were still home, we would sail, but without them around rigging and launching the boat was too much for me alone. I could sail her single-handed, but for the rest I needed help. I've discovered a place near my folks where I can rent a sailboat, so there's still hope I'll be able to go when my sons are home

We've just joined a camping club too ready to participate with our new caravan. I think you call them campers.

Campers is our catch-all word for motorhomes, fifth-wheels, and travel trailers. If I'm not mistaken, what y'all call caravans match with what we call travel trailers. But to me, they're all campers. I hope you enjoy spending time with your camping club as much as we do with ours.

@DWDavis Thanks. Yes, the different terms can be a bit confusing. We have 'camper trailers' which are canvas-topped affairs which pack down into a trailer. And slide-out types are just starting to be seen more and more. Everyone will be aspiring to them next. :) Are they common over there? The sides slide out to make more room.

@JudyEv The slide outs have become very popular here. Our little travel trailer has a slide out and it adds an generous amount of room to the living space. On ours, the beds fold out in the style of the tent-trailer we used to have, adding even more room in the galley and dining area.

Our weekend was really good. Saturday my husband and I went and checked out a place we are considering selling at this yr. I even shared a little bit on that here in a post I started. Then Sunday went to church and had an awesome service, and went and visited with some of my friends in an area I used to sell at.

Interesting pennies I've never seen before...Your weekend sounds wonderful, fun, tasty and entertaining. Our oldest son is coming home tonight in time for dinner I hope with a couple of the grand dogs. I have to paint so I will be scarce here, another order from another store needing stock...That's what happens when we have no snow making our life miserable..the tourists come and buy my art... its a win win but I wasn't ready for it...

The IBF conference had many excellent speakers. I especially enjoyed the author who's written a book on Martin Luther and the Reformation. There was also a priest who has done a lot of research on Poland and Pope John Paul II who was quite fascinating.
