Hey! Long time no see..... Everywhere I go people remember me.

Immediately as I entered the Vietnamese Restaurant, to pick up my to go order - the manager approached me and said long time, he hasn't seen me and asked me how I was doing. I told him, I'm doing fine and it's because I don't eat Vietnamese food too often. He then handed me my food, knowing my order already! It's scary how people have such good memory! At some places that I am a regular at, they know my order or my name. Do I leave some sort of impression? And, I had a new style hair cut too!

There is a restaurant that my family and I go to all the time. When they see us approaching the door they instantly put our cutlery on the table we prefer and bring out our drink orders. The waitress simply asks us if we want our usual and that is that. I think some people have great memories, but other times it's the simple fact we (as people) are creatures of habit. We create the habit of ordering from our favorite places, and they (the restaurants) remember us for our frequency of visits.

Yes, it is nice if we're a regular, but sometimes my boyfriend and I feel that they know we like their business they may take advantage of us. Lately, we have been experiencing that at Whole foods. We would request 'a certain' piece of meat cut and the guy would be like okay I'll grab it from here (which is an older batch looking) and we're like no, we prefer 'this one *points*..... and they'll be like it's the same. Or I get a specific amount of sliced cheese usually 10 thin slices of aged cheddar cheese & the guy would always mock me. Do you want 10 thin slices of aged cheddar cheese when he's the old guy is at a different department. My boyfriend gets annoyed by it. So, when I see him ~ I'll get a different cheese so now he stops. So its pretty disappointing.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The meat cut was already cooked smoked chicken wings! The ones displayed looked newer and the one he was picking from was an older batch that was darken and did not look very new. Usually the ones that are reheated from the day before, will be sold at a cheaper price and displayed in a different area of the store.. And we know this because we're a regular customer there. And about deli meat, someone did try to sell me slices already cut. I refused to take it. She told me she had just cut it... And???? Whats her point. And I was upset last week, at $11 a lb for aged cheddar cheese, you bet I want to pick my cheese. So its a bulk size cheese let's say, it should look like this: [ _______________________________ ] when the cheese is brand new When I asked to see how much is left of the cheese? [ ] Literally all the way to the end, its OLD. Imagine how many times the cheese went back and forth from the fridge into air back into the fridge??? I asked if he had anymore. He said well I only want 10 slices. If the cheese is HALF WAY, I won't request a new one, but the cheese literally was at the end of it's life! Thats a pretty strict rule! One refill only... how many refills can one possibly drink. I drink probably 3 refills but thats because they put so much ice!

@infatuatedbby It also sounds like it can be inconvenient, and in some cases, not good customer service. I think some people are like that. Especially if they are part of a small business. The deli counter guy shouldn't be trying to sell you older meat, even if it is only a few hours old. Is he trying to get you to buy meat that's already been sliced? Sometimes the waitstaff just aren't the best either. This is a bit different from your own situation but it annoys me so I'm going to talk about it here lol. A family member and I go to the same restaurant once a week. We've been getting the same waitress for several weeks now. She is nice enough, but she annoys me. I think it might be more to do with her boss and the way they were trained, but she used to refill my glass before t was empty, or nearly empty. I think she must have heard me talking to my family member about it once, because now she waits until my glass is completely empty refill it. That wouldn't be so bad, but it's usually a considerable time later before she checks to see i need a refill. The drink I order offers one free refill, so I figured that she used to refill it before I was completely finished just to get me to buy another "refill" of it. Hmmph. I wouldn't have done that anyway, but would have asked for plain (free) water.

This shows how professional that manager is It is better for them to remember their customers well. Some people not only have a high requirement for the food, but also the service. In fact sometimes the service is even much more important. Be sure remember the customers can be very impressive.

I'm impressed if people remember me in the restaurants, bars, and shops that I frequent. Goes to show that they value me as a customer. More often than not, I also get discounts and special privileges that are not given to other customers. So it is all good.

Some people just have good memory. I visited a computer shop to ask for a hard disk price. Three years or so after that, I visited the store again and the shop assistant recognized me straight away. I don't think I did something bad while I was there to be remembered like that. And if they say woman have 10gb memory, that shop assistant is a man. So....

Exactly, the owner was a man too! I know that he's the manager, but I don't know him personally. But people sure do have good memory.

There are a couple of restaurants where we used to go that know us so well that we do not even need to place the order. Of course they ask first if we want "the usual" or something different.
