If people cheat, does it mean they are not really in love with their partner?

I wonder if there are other reasons why people cheat their partners in a romantic relationship. Do you have any idea?

I think people are greedy. Some of them cheat but it doesn't mean that they don't love their partners. Perhaps they just want to have a new feeling and exerpience. A new lover can give them fresh feeling.

It doesn't mean that they are not in love, but most of the time it is a kind of revenge for something else..

@annierose That is something that needs to be investigated thoroughly...some have the habit of cheating, while others cheat due to some other reasons..

It happens mostly in long distance relationships. In some cases,if someone approaches them they just can't remain loyal. Its all about controlling your needs, emotions.

i think some situations make people susceptible to it, like jobs that are away from family/loved ones, or with lots of fieldwork, or requires more than 8 hours every day so they see their co-workers more and share good and bad times.

@hereandthere But I think it should not be an excuse for cheating.

@annierose no, of course not. but in those situations, both parties have to do their part to sustain the relationship.

They are often insecure, going thru an abusive relationship, or just plain not Happy but too afraid to stand up and let their partner know what they are looking for.

Most of the time the reason is not that they are no more in love, but the desire to try a new experience. The sudden interest for another woman/man, that is not love, but it's only physic desire.
