The Hunchback

An acquaintance of mine killed herself 6 weeks ago.
I found out moments ago from my friend. She found out from a friend.
The woman was an acquaintance. She had no friends. She didn't know how to be a friend.
We went to her parties in her beautiful homes. My husband had one of her sons as a student at the university. That tied us together.
Her husband died flying his own small plane. We were there to console her.
She took wonderful care of her appearance, until she developed an unsightly hunchback. She tried to hide it by gaining weight. Of course that didn't disguise it. We pretended not to notice it.
She was a former nurse and gave herself insulin injections.
She moved away without a goodbye.
Her son found her slumped over on her couch. She hadn't taken her insulin in days. She died of a heart attack all alone.
This is such a sad ending. My friends and I believe she never got over her husband's accident on a Halloween evening ten years ago.

It was shocking to see how quickly she developed her hunchback! From what I read, it could be a form of osteoporosis. The sad thing is that the rest of her looked great. She obviously was very low and sad to have done such a thing. I'm still in shock.

This dying alone situation is quite common these days. It is more out of compulsion than by choice.
Talking about hunchback one of my friends I am told has it now but she goes for parties and stuff.

@averygirl72 She certainly got hit with bad luck. Life is what you make of it. Life does have its ups and downs, even for the "lucky" people.

Yes! She was very pretty and even received fat injections saved from her body and put into tiny wrinkles in her face. Her clothes and accessories were top notch. She bought new five bedroom houses just for herself. To top it all off, she was very active in charitable organizations. She continued to talk about her husband for years. We watched that hunchback grow and grow and grow. One day she was fine. The next, there it was. I'm sure that, lack of friends, her diabetes, and the loss of her husband finally did her in. I'm still shaking as I write this.
